This week brought us some great shoes in sorts of colors and styles. From the unveiling of the Nike Air Max LeBron VIII to the confirmation of an Air Jordan 9 “Charcoal” retro, there was more than enough news to be excited about.

The comments section let us know that our readers were thrilled by some shoes and less than pleased with others. But what about the Snkrs Day team? We gathered some of the crew together and got a staff pick from each member, and let them share some insight into their decision. Which Snkrs Day team member has similar taste to you?

Matt Halfhill

Nike Training is back. Period. The Trainer 1.2 is the second version of the Trainer 1 with many additions and upgrades for increased performance. The shoe colorblocks well with yellow Flywire strands for the signature Livestrong look. Great kicks supporting a great cause – win.

LIVESTRONG x Nike Trainer Mid 1.2

Allison Halfhill

In a word, these New Balance 576 epitomize quality. Quality construction, attention to detail, phenomenal color selection and great material choice. I can’t decide which color is the freshest, so if I am able to be lucky enough to get my hands on any of these I will be happy.

New Balance 576 “Made in UK”

George Kiel III

There has been some very nice Air Max 1 releases this year, but the simplest one has caught my eye over the other colorways. The speckled sections, seen on the heel and throughout the midfoot, serve as a nice, simple element against the all-grey base. Did I mention grey is my favorite color? Simplicity always wins with me, and this is as simple as it gets!

Nike Air Max 1 iD “Try On”

Alex Kroviak

The Air Max 24/7 is the best hybrid shoe I’ve seen in a long, long time. Everything is just as it needs to be. Until this pair though, all the colorways were too bright for my taste. As much as I liked the “Neons,” I don’t own too many Volt t-shirts, believe it or not. These are a nice medium, because they’ve toned down the colorway and allowed the shoe’s design and shape to stand out more.

Black/Metallic Silver-Dark Shadow-Dark Grey

Ian Stonebrook

In 1996 a brash rookie signed with Reebok to become the face of the brand. The quick and controversial point guard would become a star for the next decade breaking records and breaking boundaries. The Reebok Question changed the game and would help catapult Allen Iverson into hoops and sneaker stardom. It’s been a minute since the performance hoop game has been competitive with Nike heads and shoulders above the competition. John Wall endorsing the Reebok ZigTech Slash gives the brand new life with a new face and new technology. Will Wall live up to the hype? Will the ZigTech Slash stack up with performance heavyweights? We don’t know now, but I’m excited to find out.

Greg Grovey

The Jordan Alpha Trunner is a dope shoe that dropped right in time for Summer. This shoe takes me back to my middle school days with its similarities to the Jordan Q4 Trunner, which was one of my favorite non-signature Jordan shoes. Pair these with a crisp tee and some shorts, and you’re good to go. And for only a 100 bucks, how can you say no?

Jordan Alpha Trunner University Blue/White

I felt a little incomplete after missing out on the LeBron VII “Dunkman”, but luckily Nike has blessed us with sweet low top version of the sneaker. Like it’s high top counterpart, the Air Max LeBron VII Low “Dunkman” features the same electric green accented in the Air Max bubble, as well as other parts of the sneaker. However, white and silver are used in the upper, which gives the shoe a nice clean look. The lighter colors and lower cut gives the shoe greater wearability for the summer time, and I won’t be missing out this time around.

This week brought us some great shoes in sorts of colors and styles.
