The Nike “First Use” collection has taken classic Nike sneakers and dedicated it to introducing the Nike Swoosh logo, and this time we see it on the Nike Air Force 1 Low.

The upper uses a cream leather base with cream suede overlays on the mudguard, laces, and foxing. An aged orange leather is used on the backtab on the heel with Nike in script instead of the Nike Air logo usually seen on the backtab.

Blue Swooshes are used on the lateral side with a green embroidered outline of the Swoosh on the medial side with “First use June 18, 1971” stamped on the quarter panel to signify the debut of the Swoosh logo. A metallic gold lace lock with the Swoosh is on the laces, as well as blue contrast stitching on the cream midsole. The sketches of the Swoosh are seen on the insole and a gum outsole to finish off the sneaker.

The Nike Swoosh was designed by Carolyn Davidson, who was a graphic design student at Portland State University at the time. Nike co-founder Phil Knight was an assistant professor at Portland State when they met and hired Davidson to design a logo for a rate of $2 an hour. Davidson billed for 17.5 hours of work, which is $35 for the iconic logo we see today. It seems like Davidson got the short end of the stick, but in 1983, Nike gifted Davidson shares of stock in Nike, which is estimated to value at around 1 million USD. Davidson states she hasn’t sold any shares.

There’s no known release date for the Nike Air Force 1 Low “First Use,” but expect it to hit Nike.com and select retailers for $110.
