Vans typically does its collabs one of two ways, either subtly or they go all out, without much in between. Their latest collab arrive in the form of Project 50/50 with LA based brand C2H4, hitting us with two pairs. In classic C2H4 fashion, the pairs feature an experimental and innovative look based around the combination of chemistry and fashion. Dubbed the “Enlighten” Collection, we are greeted with striking adaptations to Vans fan favorites, the Style-36 “Trailblazer” & SK8-Low “Subconscious”.

The two pairs dropping both make quite the statement to the footwear industry, with a very high fashion feel incorporated. Both featuring thermo-sensitive components by ECCO Leather, the Style-36 & SK8-Low are equally impressive in their own way. The “Trailblazers” feature a distinct looking hand-distressing and wash, giving them a worn-in look pairing with the metal heel counter. The “Subconscious” SK8-Lows don’t have the same distressed look, though C2H4’s design language translates beautifully onto this pair as well. With a more polished look, there are additional thermo-sensitive panels along the sidewalls & heel cap, fixed by metal eyelets. The toecap & midsole feature a distinct Black glue covering providing a unique sheen – waxed laces complete the look.
