“We were trying to before. We were trying to BC, not before Christ, but before corona, trying to get a meeting in” – Spike Lee

The game of basketball has turned into a global staple throughout the years. Olympics. Championship dynasties. And of course, films. Perhaps one of the most memorable basketball films to date is Spike Lee’s He Got Game, in which Jesus Shuttlesworth is trying to make it big as the top prospect in the country for hoops. Jesus, played by the one and only Ray Allen, rekindles his relationship with his father, played by Denzel Washington. Eventually, the game brings the father and son together.

Sorry for spoiling the film for you if you haven’t seen it. But the movie is as old as I am, so you have no excuse. I digress.

The movie also had a Jumpman co-sign as the Air Jordan 13 “He Got Game” made a cameo and would reappear in a remix as the Air Jordan 13 “Reverse He Got Game” released in 2018 in celebration of the film’s 20th anniversary.
