This weekend’s release of the Air Jordan 4 “Hot Punch” won’t be the first time Michael Jordan’s 1989-produced signature sneaker will be constructed in patent leather.

Jordan Brand’s 11Lab4 series that began to take shape in 2015 reached this aesthetic feat first, in luxe, gleaming Black and University Red colorways. Those pairs, however, weren’t released during the shoe’s 30th anniversary. They also weren’t made exclusively for women.

Both of those ring true for the “Hot Punch” 4s which carry the ever important NRG moniker. Coated in the shiny leather seen through a pinkish hue, black accents reinforce the time-honored design at the tongue, heel, and finishing the speckled midsole.
