words // Nick DePaula

Ever since he can remember, LA Clippers center Montrezl Harrell has been into sneakers.

Now in his fourth season in the NBA, the 6’8″ undersized big has been outperforming expectations for a playoff-bound Clipper roster, putting up 15.7 points and 7 rebounds per game in just 25 minutes, all while wearing the league’s most versatile rotation of sneakers on a nightly basis.

“I hoop in everything,” he says. “The thing about it is, I do it in both halves.”

At his LA-area home, just a quick drive away from his second home at the Clippers’ practice facility, custom paintings, animation portraits and of course — sneakers — can be found throughout. His game-worn pairs can be found along the floor of his downstairs guest room, while a more orderly upstairs room awaits us, complete with floor-to-ceiling clear bins of his collection.

“Everybody has something that draws to them, something they like to do,” frames Trezz. “Mine is shoes, and I like animation [and] cartoons.”

As you’ll see throughout the episode, the sneaker free agent’s stash includes everything from classic Nike Basketball signatures, to rare and vintage Retro Js, and even recent launches from Reebok and AND1. He also boasts one of the best custom games in the league, collaborating with artists and coming up with a series of hand-painted themes atop Jordans, LeBrons and even Air Monarchs.

Check out our exclusive Sneak Peek inside both of Montrezl Harrell’s sneaker rooms, and stay tuned for future episodes of the revamped series, in tandem with SLAM Magazine. Be sure to also follow Trezz on Instagram and Twitter for more looks at his collection ahead.
