This past Sunday, Kobe Bryant and a few of his teammates debuted the Nike Zoom Kobe V “Kid Hollywood” on the NBA court. This particular design, which many of you labeled one of the best Kobe V colorways to date (and rightfully so), was created by 28-year-old Jason Hamilton AKA DJ “Kid Hollywood”. Hamilton manufactured the winning design in the week-long Nike Zoom Kobe V iD contest that took place at the beginning of March.

We sat down with Jason Hamilton to discuss a slew of topics regarding his Nike Zoom Kobe V iD and other sneakers. Click here to read about Hollywood’s design inspirations, his favorite sneakers of all time and his entire NikeiD experience.

Nike Zoom Kobe V iD “Kid Hollywood” Snkrs Day: First off, state your age, location, favorite kicks, favorite team and why you love shoes.

Kid Hollywood: My name is Jason Hamilton, and? I’m 28 years old. My favorite shoes of all time have to be the Nike Penny Foamposites, and my favorite teams are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Dodgers. I’ve loved shoes since I was a little boy especially when I got my first pair of black cement Air Jordan IV’s. From then on, every year I would cop the new Jordans.

Snkrs Day: What was your initial reaction when you saw the Nike Zoom Kobe V? ?Where did you see it first?

Kid Hollywood: When I first saw the Nike Zoom Kobe V (which was on Snkrs Day), I wasn’t completely sold on a shoe that was almost as low as my Chucks! They started to grow on me as time went by and more and more pictures started to surface. Then, the pictures of the “Dark Knight” Nike Zoom Kobe V and the “Bruce Lee” Kobe Vs dropped and it was game over. I was sold that these would be the ‘Kicks of the Year’ (well at least for me)!

Snkrs Day: Do you have a pair of Kobe Vs? ?How do you like how it looks/feels? In you opinion, what makes the Kobe V one of your favorites?

Kid Hollywood: Yeah I have the “Bruce Lee” Kobe Vs, and I got a pair of iD’s coming in the mail that look like the Air Jordan I (seen below). I’ve had plenty of shoes in my day but the Kobe V is, by far, the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn. They’re almost as light as my socks! The look is simple yet stylish and doesn’t look like any other basketball shoe out there. It’s uniqueness and style make it one of my favorites.

Kid Hollywood’s Nike Zoom Kobe V “Air Jordan I” Snkrs Day: Before last night, what was your favorite colorway of the Kobe V that Bryant has worn on the court? Any reason why you like this color?

Kid Hollywood: Well, other than the “Bruce Lee” Kobe Vs, I would have to say the “Inline” Kobe V (referring to the Nike Zoom Kobe V white/black-purple) has to be my favorite on the court this year. I love the way the Pearl on the shoe pops! Plus, you can’t forget about the speckle.

Snkrs Day: When you heard about the NikeiD contest what was initial reaction? Better yet, what are your thoughts on NikeiD’s connection to the sneaker community?

Kid Hollywood: There was no doubt in my mind that I had to enter the contest. I just didn’t think that I would ever win it! NikeiD has given the sneaker community a chance to be a part of shoe history. It shows that, without this community, there is no NikeiD; so it’s just a great way to say thanks in my opinion.

Click here to view the second page of this interview.

Snkrs Day: What was your goal with the design of the shoe? ?Did you draw inspiration from a specific source?

Kid Hollywood: My goal was to make a shoe that would look sick with the Lakers ‘Home’ White on White uniforms. As for inspiration, I took from Kobe Bryant’s game. The metallic silver is representative of how Bryant shines on the court night in and night out. The icey sole represents the ice in Kobe’s game that allows him to bring back his team when they are down and out. I felt, not only did the shoe have to match but, it had to be an extension of the way Kobe plays.

Derek Fisher and Kobe Bryant wearing the Nike Zoom Kobe V “Kid Hollywood” Snkrs Day: What was it like to hear that your design was selected as the winner?

Kid Hollywood: When I first picked up the phone, it was Todd from NikeiD. I thought to myself, “I haven’t ordered my Kobe V iD’s yet?” Then he said the words, “you’re the winner” and I bugged out! I was calm on the phone, but truth be told, I was losing it inside! I couldn’t believe it.

Snkrs Day: How did it feel to see your Kobe V design on his feet?

Kid Hollywood: When I first got to my seats and saw Kobe plus the five others wearing my design, I started laughing; one of those, ‘I can’t believe this is real‘ type of laughs. It almost brought tears to my eyes. It was an awesome feeling to say the least.

Nike Zoom Kobe V “Bruce Lee” Snkrs Day: Quite the nail biter at the end of the game…

Kid Hollywood: Being a Laker fan, I was obviously sad that they lost but both teams played their best! The atmosphere in the arena was like being at a playoff game, and there really wasn’t more I could ask for. Wll, maybe if we hit a couple free throws and not fouled Martell Webster on a three-point attempt.

Snkrs Day: Where does the Kobe V rank amongst your favorite Nike Basketball shoes?

Kid Hollywood: These automatically jump into my top five of all-time seeing that Kobe actually wore my design in a game.

Snkrs Day: Any last words?

Kid Hollywood: First off, I just want thank God for some sort of creativity to allow me to win this contest. I want to thank Mario and Patricia Hamilton for buying me my first pair of Air Jordan IVs and pretty much every Jordan after that. Also, my sister Jessica, my family and friends for all the support. Last but not least, I want to thank NikeiD and This past Sunday, Kobe Bryant and a few of his teammates debuted the Nike Zoom Kobe V “Kid Hollywood” on…

[1
199

2":"type-post
