In recent years, the Air Jordan 1<\/strong> has risen to perhaps the most popular model in Mike’s storied signature series. Casually adapted by fly guys and gals alike, the model has maintained mass relevance in both OG colorways and spirited updates.<\/p>\n

Preluding the success of the shoe in the casual space and its crossover to beloved reconstruction is the OG Air Jordan 1 Decon Prototype. Designed by vintage veteran Doctor Funk<\/a> during his days at Jordan Brand, the shoe happens to be equal parts vintage and veteran in inspiration.<\/p>\n

During Doc’s days at JB, he’d often wear Chuck Taylors to work out of comfort necessity. Basically, basketball shoes in a modern or even retro sense were to heavy and too hot. Enter the Chuck for a light and easy wear. Such discovery and a need to wear Jordans at work inspired the idea to create a more comfortable AJ1 that would mold to his foot just like the canvas of the Chuck Taylor.<\/p>\n

Heading into the Innovative Kitchen, Doc designed and AJ1 made out of duck canvas with no backing or padding. To make the story true to Mike and the brand, the 50-year-old duck canvas was thrifted from a military bag to tie in with Mike’s brother Larry, a retired command sergeant who served 31 years.<\/p>\n
