When Michael Jordan<\/strong> entered the NBA, in 1984, after being drafted third overall in June of that year, he wasn’t expected to take home Rookie of the Year honors at the close of his debut season. By most estimations, that award would be taken by the draft’s No. 1 overall pick, Akeem Olajuwon, or the pick that followed, Sam Bowie. Neither happened.<\/p>\n As history shows, Jordan excelled during his rookie campaign and subsequently took home the 1985 NBA Rookie of the Year award.
