When Michael Jordan returned to the NBA in 2001, for an understated yet masterful two-year stint with the Washington Wizards, Jordan Brand was happier than anyone to see His Airness rejoin the hoops space. Designer Tate Kuerbis churned out one of his best post-Bulls silhouettes a short time after, crafting the race car inspired Air Jordan 18.

Keurbis, taking cues from Formula 1 racers, produced a luxurious shoe of soothing Italian sensibility. Releasing in original colorways in 2002-03, early this year brought forth a retro of the White/Sport Royal OG and the beloved “Toro” in March. This fall, the Black/Sport Royal edition will also retro. Fans of the early 2000s silhouette also have non-OG styles to look forward to this year.

As Jordan Brand has often done with contemporary retros, the 18s will dress in a “Cool Grey” colorway. Medium grey suede blankets the mid cut style while a sleek black and grey carbon fiber midsole stabilizes the look below. Release details for the Air Jordan 18 “Cool Grey” have not been announced. Stay tuned to Snkrs Day for more.
