Sneaker Geeks is back in full effect! Last December, we launched three different Sneaker Geeks features that showcased shoes inspired by cartoons, video games and movies. The latter section seems to be more popular with the brands. How so you might ask? Well, we have dug into the archives and compiled another list of movie inspired sneakers withing this past year. Did you expect 2009 to have more movie inspired? sneakers than 2008?

In this list, you will find some of 2009’s most highly anticipated movies displayed on a few sneakers in a very creative way. However, you must give credit where credit is due. It does not hold a torch to the Hyperdunk “Marty McFly”, yet it is still a nice themed sneaker to say the least

#14 – STPL x Airwalk Terrain Hi Skate Star Trek Collection & Star Trek x Staple x Airwalk 1.0

In honor of? Star Trerk DVD releasing on November 17th, 2009, Jeff Staples and Airwalk put together this low-costing Star Trek inspired pack. It contains three “Starfleet” colorways on the Terrain Hi and also features the Starfleet logo on the heel. In addition, Star Trek, Jeff Staples and Airwalk joined efforts on the Trekkie? edition of the Airwalk 1.0 which owns a foil-like finish.

#13 – Nike Big Nike “Wolverine” & Nike Air Max 95 “Sabertooth”

The X-Men Origins movie was one of the most highly anticipated movies of this year. Therefore, Nike designed a two-sneaker pack inspired by the two main characters, Wolverine and Sabertooth. Both sneakers borrow the character’s outfit for their base design.

#12 – Pony FTC Mid “9”

This Pony was designed for the animated film “9,” which was released a few months back on, you guessed it, 9/9/09. The main characters were dollas constructed with a tweed-like weave, so of course the shoes used the same characteristics.

#11 – Air Jordan Fusion 4 “Do the Right Thing”

Jordan Brand obviously paid attention to little details when designing this particular Air Jordan Fusion 4. To coincide with “Do the Right Thing’s” 20th year anniversary, JB designed an Air Jordan Fusion 4 that draws inspiration from Buggin? Out?s pair that were scuffed in the movie. JB even strapped the shoe with a multi-colored debray that is similar to that one Buggin’ Out’s shoes.

#10 – Nike SB ?Toxic Sea Robin? Dunk Low

Nike decided to create a sneaker that draws inspiration from the 1984 movie The Toxic Avenger. As you can see, the sneaker? base is draws inspiration from the monster’s body, while its accents clearly point towards the movie cover’s words.

#9 – ?Where The Wilds Things Are? x Lakai Collection

The children’s book-turned movie also transformed into a sneaker collection. Lakai designed a low-cut and a high-top sneaker that feature specific elements from the movie such as the eyes from the original book artwork.

#8 – Puma “Terror Kings” Pack

This pack, consisting of five pairs of sneakers, draws inspiration from some of the classic movie monsters including Terror King, Lizoid King, Mecha King, Moth King and Ape King. In commemoration of these classic flim freaks, PUMA created one-of-a-kind designs on a few of its well-known models such as the First Round, the Stepper, the PUMA Mid and the Clyde.

#7 – Nike “G.I. Joe” Pack

Similar to the aforementioned Transformers II Pack, this “G.I. Joe” inspired release used newly-designed Nike basketball? models. G.I. Joe characters Destro, Storm Shadow and Cobra Commander are all represented with the Hyperize, the Sharkalaid and the Alpholution, respectively. Is the G.I. Joe Pack better than the Transformers II Pack?

#6 – Air Jordan 1 Retro “School Daze” Pack

We have already seen Jordan Brand use one of Spike Lee’s movies as an inspiration in the form of the Air Jordan Fusion 4 “Do the Right Thing”. In addition, JB created two Air Jordan 1s in an attempt to pay homage to the Spike Lee joint School Daze. The White/Purple-Yellow pair obviously owns the same colorway as the School Daze movie poster. As for the black/white-grey pair, it draws inspiration from Gamma Phi Gamma, the fraternity for whom character ?Half-Pint? pledged.

#5 – Nike Zoom Kobe IV “Chaos”

This movie inspired sneaker is one of the more special sneakers on this list seeing that it pays tribute to the late Heath Ledger’s character. However, its not just the tribute that places this sneaker on out list. As you can see on the first picture, the Joker’s outfit was represented to the tee on this shoe to say the least

#4 – Nike “Transformers II” Pack

Transformers II was easily one of the most highly-anticipated movies of 2009. Likewise, many sneaker lovers were waiting to see what Nike had in store for this movie seeing that the first Tranformers pack was considered one of the best. This time, Nike went a step further by incoroporating a package that is similar to that of a Hasbro Transformers toy. The packaging alone makes this release a part of the best movie-inspired sneakers.

#3 – Supra ARMORED Vaider

This special pair of Vaiders, which were designed by the efforts of Supra and Sony, features distinctive elements that coincide with the movie. The color scheme, which features dark shades including black and grey, is similar to that of an armored truck. In addition, the entire base is supposedly very durable as is an armored truck.

#2 – Nike Hyperize “White Men Can’t Jump” Pack

The Nike Hyperize “White Men Can’t Jump” Pack was easily one of the sought after releases this year. The element of inspiration behind these two sneakers was executed very nicely. The Billy Hoyle pair (right) borrows its colorway fromt the Commande Forces he had on in the movie. On the contrary, the Sidney Deane pair uses the colorway that’s associated with the attire he had on in the movie.

#1 – Nike Dunk High “Coraline”

The “Coraline” Dunks could easily be deemed one of the better Dunks of 2009. This shoe belongs on the list because it possesses inspirations from the movie in very unique ways. For example, he right sneaker features the mouse?s face and tail from the movie, while the left sneaker features the cat?s face and tail. The way to obtain them was even more creative. To own a pair, you had to watch the movie and find out the secret code after the credits.

What was your favorite movie inspired sneaker of 2009?
