This past weekend, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jordan Brand threw a good old-fashioned block party. Partnering with local boutique, Sneaker Politics, the party helped launch the Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” to the community before its official release on May 12. But there was also a larger force at work: the Jordan Wings Program was awarding scholarships to graduating high school seniors.

Teaming up with local New Orleans educational partners to reward students in need of funding to pursue a higher education, Jordan Wings continues to be a force for good in communities across the U.S. Each student also received a special PE pair of the “Katrina” 3s made to mirror the original 2003 on-court version worn by original Team Jordan athlete, Derek Anderson.

New Orleans, although 13 years removed from Hurricane Katrina, isn’t completely restored. And while the successful mayor hasn’t yet stated whether he will or won’t, many have him pinned to unseat President Trump in 2020 if he chooses to run on the Democratic ticket with his progressive policies.

Jordan Brand, to their credit, is an active part of the change in New Orleans. This block party, the scholarships it produced, the lives those scholarships are set to change, are proof of that.

This past weekend, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jordan Brand threw a good old-fashioned block party.
