The Pegasus ’89 runner from Nike came up the same year that the Berlin Wall came down. Since it shares its birthday with one of the most culturally relevant events in history, it’s a given that the sneaker and the Wall are forever linked. So to go beyond just designing a shoe to pay tribute to the event, Nike has also designed the Spirit Room for the release of said sneaker.

Using grey, black and concrete to recreate the atmosphere of Berlin’s streets, Nike figuratively brought this room “outside.” We also see the sweatshirt that is included with the sneaker purchase, which includes interchangeable nameplates attached with velcro. The installation includes a lot of cool art and photography, so be sure to check it out if you’re in Germany soon. And if you’re stuck stateside, click here to check out the pics.

|
