When Kanye West returned to Twitter after an almost year-long hiatus last week, his very first tweet — which has since been deleted — was regarding Nike’s budding M2K Tekno silhouette. Kanye compared the shoe to his Yeezy Boost 700 stating that Nike took creative inspiration from his design. Today, though, West indirectly walked back into that comment. He stated everything is inspired by something; no one is reinventing the wheel.

That said, Nike’s modern-day Monarch is back to just being an exciting new release with no equivocations. Following its debut last year during John Elliott’s New York Fashion Week presentation, the shoe emerged in a Sail hued women’s edition. As expected, men’s colorways are en route including this newly vindicated Black/Volt option.

Much of the model is outfitted in black leather overlays with textured paneling and toe wrap. Volt branding marks the quarter paneling and insole while the heel is also finished in the vibrant hue.

The Nike M2K Tekno Black/Volt is set to release on May 19 for $100 at select Swoosh retailers.

Colorway: Black/Black-Phantom-VoltNike M2K Tekno
