If you know the history of adidas, you’re familiar with their deep, rich history within tennis. Even if you’re not, you probably own or come across a plethora of Stan Smiths, inspired by the renowned American tennis player active from the ’60s up until the ’80s.<\/p>\n
Fast forward to 2017 and the Stan Smith line has transformed from a tennis shoe to a lifestyle staple. However, Orravan Design<\/a>\u00a0and the Three Stripe brand teamed up to revitalize the tennis focus adidas once held so high. The 2017 Davis Cup, which took place over the weekend in France, had the world of tennis engaged as France beat Belgium as they clinched their 10th Davis Cup.<\/p>\n The French team was led by prominent adidas figures\u00a0Lucas Pouille<\/a> and Jo-Wilfred Tsonga<\/a>. To honor their victory, the athletes were gifted a rare and priceless pair of custom kicks. Each pair contains 10 Swarovski crystal stars representing France’s trophies, the iconic stripes in a tricolor palette with Swarovski crystals to honor the French flag and a hand painted drawing similar to the one engraved on the Davis Cup added on the external side of each shoe. To top it all off, both pairs pairs are packaged in gray much like the Davis Cup for that unique, authentic feel.<\/p>\n While the design is the same, each athlete received a different shoe. Pouille was gifted the adidas Ubersonic 2 \u00a0while Tsonga was gifted the adidas Barricade 2017.
