One of the most talked about collaborations of the year finally came to the masses today. Virgil’s Off-White x Nike “The Ten” Collection would finally come alive via the Nike SNKRS app after a lot of confusion about how the sneakers, if at all, would drop.

Unless you were personally gifted a pair by Virgil, copped a pair at the “OFF CAMPUS” events in September, entered and won at a raffle or got them backdoored, today was the chance to finally get a decent shot at the collection.

I, Luis Torres, was one of the brave souls who sat at the SNKRS App today.

From jump, I had my eyes on the Off-White x Nike Zoom Fly SP. I own a pair of the inline silo, which was inspired by Nike’s feat to break the 2 hour marathon, and they’re perfect for running with the carbon plate in the shoe. Even though there’s no shot that I would ever run in the Off-White iteration, the comfort and look made it my grail.

As the morning hit and I came out of my 9 am class (I’m out in Arizona, so the collection started dropping at 11 am since we don’t believe in daylight savings), I headed to my dorm and was zoned in. Even though the Zoom Fly was my top choice, I decided to test my luck with a few others. The Off-White x Nike Presto, Off-White x Nike Hyperdunk, Off-White x Air Max 97, Off-White x Nike Zoom Fly SP and the Off-White x Air Jordan 1 were on my hit list.

I had no shot with the Presto. The error messages were coming in real quick and size 9 was sold out in a heartbeat. Even though it wasn’t my favorite out of the collection, it was a clean look and wouldn’t really pinch into my wallet going at $160. That was the day’s first L. 30 minutes passed, and it was time for the Hyperdunk. Unlike the Presto, I was actually in line for this pair. All but ten minutes passed when I was kicked out and my size was gone. L numero dos. An hour after the Hyperdunk, the Zoom Fly and AM97 dropped simultaneously, but I went for the Zoom first. As a last resort, I would come back to the 97. While it wasn’t as excruciating as trying to get the Presto, it wasn’t nearly as easy as the Hyperdunk. LLL. Waiting in line for the AM97, my spirits were down as I copped my fourth L of the day. Going into the Air Jordan 1 at 1:30 MST, I knew I had no shot. Only one error message propped up and I was in line. Is this it? Will I actually get a pair of the Off-Whites? Will I, homeboy, gonna like… get it? Nope. After waiting in line for about 15 minutes, I was out of luck. Due to it, I will legally change my name to LLLLLuis Torres. Stay tuned.

Even though I went 0 for 5, it was fantastic to see people get a pair. One of my best friends was fortunate enough to land both the Presto and the Air Jordan 1. Yeah, you read that right. Queue the Jordan Crying meme. While it wasn’t the perfect rollout, there’s really no ideal way. People will complain no matter what, especially if they come out empty handed. Although I would’ve personally preferred the rollout be spread out by 10 days, it was still an exhilarating experience.

So, did you cop any of the collection or did you take five or more Ls like I did? I feel your pain if you didn’t, but congrats if you did.

For two hours today I felt a deep emotional connection with a bunch of strangers on the internet as we rode the rollercoaster that is the SNKRs app together.

Not the result I was hoping for, but finding solitude in the new memes of the day. pic.twitter.com/cj1pnKE4DD
