While New York City is very much the epicenter of where the Nike Air Force 1 came of age and turned into a cultural icon, it’s not the only northern location that helped the Bruce Kilgore design resonate before its popularity truly soared.

Baltimore, back in the mid 80’s, two years after Nike began production of the shoe, essentially saved it from fading into obscurity when Nike had plans to stop producing it. It was Baltimore that continued to covet the shoe when other regions didn’t, wearing it with pride and authenticity. Nike is rewarding their loyalty with this special edition SF-AF1 Mid.

Complete with B’More detailing, custom embroidered straps, an ’84 hangtag, comic-inspired insoles, and a box illustrated by graphic artist Ed Piskor, the shoe odes to the city and its unassuming efforts that helped keep the Air Force 1 alive. Nike has partnered with local retailer Downtown Locker Room to release the shoe exclusively at their locations in Mondawmin Mall and on Monument Street in Baltimore on September 30.

Release Date: September 30, 2017

Nike SF-AF1 Mid “For Baltimore”
