words // Nick DePaula I get a lot of pitch emails featuring new sneakers. Some have been hilariously iconic, others fall through the cracks and don’t warrant much attention, and then there are the times that I’m caught completely off guard by the fire that has just hit my inbox.

Like sharpshooter Jimmer Fredette’s new signature sneaker with Chinese brand 361 yesterday.

The Jimmer, who has been lighting defenders up across the ocean in the CBA for a league-best 37.6 ppg last season, has been so successful overseas that not only did a local brand offer up a shoe deal, but they also committed some serious design talent to the partnership — which caught all of Twitter by surprise last night.

With that popular demand in mind, here’s an extensive look at the 361 JiFeng, Jimmer’s new signature shoe that also features similar initials and a ‘JF’ logo along the heel. The term JiFeng translates to “sharp halberd,” an ancient Chinese weapon and one of the sharpest, most efficient, items utilized in battle. For Fredette, who dropped 73 points last season on the way to winning league MVP, he’s become one of the most lethal scorers in CBA history.
