The reconstructed design language spoken by Virgil Abloh through his upcoming Nike collection was first seen courtesy of the offering’s shining sartorial achievement – the Off-White x Air Jordan 1. Abloh likens creations such as the Air Jordan 1 to the world’s most renowned art pieces, like the sculpture of David or the Mona Lisa. He believes, as many of us do, sneakers are much more impactful than they often receive credit for.

“What we’re talking about here is larger than sneakers, it’s larger than design culture,” Abloh expressed. The way he sees it, sneakers are our art, our cultural monuments to be celebrated, shared and, well, collected.

Virgil’s Air Jordan 1 has been the most talked about and coveted sneaker since images of them first began to surface this spring. Now, pairs will begin to release in September, at fashion week celebrations in New York City, London, Paris and Milan. A global release for the Off-White x Air Jordan 1 will take place in November at NikeLab retailers and select stores globally.

Release Date: November 2017

Off-White x Air Jordan 1
