Following four years of merging edgy aesthetic with performance tech, Rick Owens and adidas are parting ways. As reported by i-D, the collaboration that started in 2013 was originally conceived as a one year deal but worked so well it went to span numerous collections that will conclude with their release of this year’s Fall/Winter line.

“Both parties enjoyed great success over the past four years,” said a representative from Owenscorp recently in a statement, “as this collaboration comes to a natural conclusion, they continue to hold each other in the highest regard.”

Fortunately for fans of Rick, they will still get their footwear fix. The daring designer whose DRKSHDW sneakers dressed Playboi Carti in the “Magnolia” video is set to team up next with Hood Rubber. Their first collaboration was previewed at Owens’ Spring/Summer 18 show — perhaps a sign that new moves were on the way — and will likely launch during said season.

Best of luck to Rick Owens on his new sneaker venture and props for making Springblade and more as edgy as they could ever be.
