Today, the world lost an incredibly funny man. Charlie Murphy, famous for his work on Chappelle’s Show and the Leroy Smith campaign for Jordan Brand, passed away at 57 years of age from Leukemia.

Brother to fellow comedy star Eddie, his knack for storytelling and ability to parody brought joy and laughter to many — including this writer for sure and many other members of the NK staff.

Those that grew up in the ’90s probably remember him from his parts in Harlem Nights or CB4, those that came up in the ’00s recall his tales of Rick James and Prince on Chappelle’s Show, and those even younger probably heard his voice as Ed Wuncler III on the The Boondocks or even as Jizzy B. in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Born in Brooklyn and even a Navy vet and karate practitioner, the world will definitely remember Charlie for his comedy. If you’re ever having a down day or just wanna make a friend smile, shoot them over one of the skits below or a sketch from Chappelle’s Show. Thanks, Charlie.
