Two years ago Under Armour made a power move very few saw coming. They overtook adidas as the #2 sportswear brand in North America, a position the German-based brand held for a lengthy tenure prior.

But according to a new report from Business Insider, adidas recently regained their footing at the #2 spot behind Nike due to huge surges in a currency-neutral basis Stateside.

Much of this success is hinged upon the ever-growing popularity of the adidas Stan Smith. The brand’s best-selling shoe of all time persists as an industry leader, jumping from the tennis court to the runway and on the feet of fashion’s finest.

Kanye West, of course, helms the brand with the most in-demand shoe on the market – the adidas Yeezy Boost. His influence in pop culture and as a sneaker designer coupled with wearing the likes of the Stan Smith and Ultra Boost far outweigh any other figure in the marketplace. Pharrell Williams, too, has also played a critical role in this current adidas renaissance.
