As the Collegiate Basketball season comes to a close tonight, there’s been plenty of desirable matchups and notable finishes throughout the season. However, arguably none is more exciting than the matchup for the National Championship between the Villanova Wildcats and the North Carolina Tar Heels. Both storied programs are looking to capture titles after spending an entire season as two of the elite teams.

Now while the game tonight is going to be very enticing, we can’t forget to mention the stellar collegiate players that have worn their fair share of quality kicks throughout the season as we present the “Starting-5” within this latest edition of College Kicks On Court Spotlight. Featuring the likes of Ben Simmons and a couple of Naismith candidates, we also see some mid-major stalwarts.

To see more, flip through the pages below to enjoy.

Classification: Sophomore This season, Tyler Ulis has cemented himself as one of the best point guards to ever play at the University of Kentucky and under coach John Calapari. That proverbial list is steep in notable names such as John Wall and various other non-UK alumnus such as Tyreke Evans and Derrick Rose. With his play also placing him within National Player of the Year conversations, Ulis has upped his game in style with the latest makeups of the Nike Kobe 11, along with various shades of the Nike Kyrie 2.

In addition, Ulis would also be spotted in the Air Jordan 9 “Anthracite” and Air Jordan 13 “Barons.”

Classification: Freshman Jeremy Hemsley is one of the two freshman on this starting lineup, but with his well versed collection of Air Jordans, it’s easy to see why. The Rancho Cucamonga native took his talents to San Diego State in which he joined a stout collection of sneakerheads, but as mentioned previously, his array of Jordans made him a fixture on College KOC.

Hemsley would don the “Laney” Air Jordan 5, as well as several makeups of the Air Jordan 11 such as the “Legend Blue” and “72-10,” respectively.

Classification: Senior Winston Shepard has seemingly been at San Diego State for nearly a decade, but that certainly speaks to his immediate impact and longevity as an Aztec. Finishing up his career this season, Shepard kept up with his usual array of tried-and-true Air Jordan staples ranging from the “Aqua” Air Jordan 8 to the “Laser” Air Jordan XX.

In addition, Winston would be known to switch out various sneakers at halftime in which he did during this season’s Mountain West Tournament, first off, utilizing the Air Jordan 12 “Master” and the Air Jordan 8 “3 Peat” for the second half.

Classification: Freshman Freshman sensation Ben Simmons has been much maligned this season as plenty expected the talented forward to elevate his lowly LSU Tigers to an NCAA berth. Although that can be true in many respects, Simmons’ talent is still very much undeniable. Recently inking a deal with Klutch Sports, which happens to be an entity of LeBron James, it seems as though Simmons was looking to capture the attention of “King James” all season long.

How you might ask? Well Simmons spent almost all of his brief NCAA playing career rocking various iD iterations of the Nike LeBron 13. Simmons would even don the Nike LeBron 12 during the SEC Tournament.

Classification: Senior Markus Kennedy has had a unique collegiate basketball journey. Starting off at Villanova, the forward/center eventually ventured to Texas to become a formidable force for the SMU Mustangs. Over the past two seasons, Kennedy has helped the Mustangs reach national prominence by being ranked within the Top-25 during each season; despite being ineligible for post-season action this year.

Point Guard // Tyler Ulis
