Around this time last year, plenty of the current NBA rookies were basking in the glory of collegiate success while preparing for the upcoming NCAA tournament. Some of those players have become stars in their own right once entering the league.

Devin Booker recently joined his former UK teammate Karl-Anthony Towns as being one of the few rookies to amass 30 points in one outing. Coupling Booker’s recent performance with Kristaps Porzingis’ strong start and D’Angelo Russell’s “ice water” outing — the 2015 Draft class is rather formidable.

With that in mind, we present the latest edition of Kicks On Court Spotlight, as we document the best rookies of the season. To see more, continue through the pages below to enjoy.

Selection in 2015 NBA Draft: No.2 Playing for Byron Scott in a “basketball sense” has to be like spending time in the Russian Gulag. Merely a desolate area with no hope or signs of ever prospering.

That seemed to be the case for D’Angelo Russell at the beginning of his rookie season, as a demotion and limited playing time canvassed various game logs of the rookie from Ohio State. However, fast-forward to after the All-Star break and Russell is playing like the elite talent draft analysts pegged him to be. His recent array of three-point shooting culminated in an 8-trey performance that delighted crowds and provided hope to L.A.

Furthermore, his fleet of reputable sneakers throughout the season has been vast, as he has chosen to honor his teammate’s final year with a variety of Nike Kobe staples that include the Nike Kobe IX, X and the XI.

Selection in 2015 NBA Draft: No.13 Plenty of hoops experts believe that the final picks of the 2015 NBA Draft lottery were the best of the entire draft, and the selection of Devin Booker at pick 13 solidifies that assertion. For starters, the former Kentucky guard has dazzled us all with his sharpshooting from the field. That was on full display last night, to the tune of 34 points on 11 of 21 field goals. Not to mention, his footwear of the moment was none other than the low-top Nike Kobe Xs that he has sported on a variety of ocassions this season.

Also, the guard has raked up averages of nearly 15 points-per-game as a starter. With Booker being the only bright spot on a lowly Suns team, it’s certain those averages will only rise throughout the season.

Selection in 2015 NBA Draft: No.8 Although his rookie campaign has been up-and-down, there is plenty of promise with both Stanley Johnson and the Detroit Pistons. With mid-season trade acquisitions making their team a hot commodity on NBA League Pass, the tenacity and defensive efforts of Johnson leave plenty impressed. Also, his notable sneaker choices this season have been ferocious as well, as he’s hit the hardwood in a variety of makeups ranging from the “Double Nickel” Air Jordan 10 to the “Egg Nog” Nike KD 7.

His shoe of choice happens to be the Nike Kobe X Low, which he has worn during multiple contests.

Selection in 2015 NBA Draft: No.4 Since entering the league, Kristaps Porzingis has been nothing short of a surprise, as plenty of ambiguity clouded him prior to being drafted at 4 overall. Since then, he’s only helped bolster the Knicks’ future and seems to be a franchise fixture going forward. In addition, his bevy of put-back dunks during the early season in the Nike Kobe X Elite allowed for many within the social media-sphere to take his persona to new heights.

Whether you enjoy his game or feel as though he’s lightning in a bottle, Porzingis’ early brilliance and notable footwear has suddenly placed a foreign star in the Big Apple.

Selection in 2015 NBA Draft: No.1 Everyone knew that Karl Anthony-Towns was special, but his performance during NBA All-Star Saturday night, in which he won the annual Skills Challenge, further etched in stone his rarified talent. Averaging a double-double in his rookie season, this Nike signee has laced up a bevy of size 20 in-line Nike Basketball silhouettes that range from the Nike Hyperfuse 2014 to the Nike Prime Hype.

With his teammate and former number 1 overall pick in Andrew Wiggins combing the wing, the Minnesota Timberwolves seem more than destined to become a perennial power in the West in due time.

Around this time last year, plenty of the current NBA rookies were basking in the glory of collegiate success while…

[835
1225659,1225551,444

2":"type-post

D’Angelo Russell
