With our very own Nick DePaula recently scoring an in-depth interview with noted designer Leo Chang, the intricacies of the Nike Kyrie 2 are rather impressive and awe-inspiring.

As the editorial feature dives into those qualities in extreme detail, we decided it would be more than appropriate to take a look at Kyrie Irving’s notable footwear throughout the years dating all the way back to his high school days at St. Patrick’s.

To see for yourself, scroll through the pages below to enjoy the linage of Kyrie Irving’s footwear.

Year: 2009-2010 Being one of the top ranked prospects within the nation certainly has its perks and a variety of intriguing kicks during his tenure at St. Patrick’s. With various NBA teammates such as Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Irving would dominate the competition in the Air Jordan 12 “Rising Sun” during various contests. With its ultra-crisp hue of white canvassing the upper, this colorway paired well with the uniforms of the private high school located in New Jersey. Year: 2010-2011 When Kyrie Irving arrived at Duke University, expectations were high. It had been sometime since Coach K would have a dynamic point guard in his possession of the caliber of Kyrie Irving. However, that ideal wouldn’t be smooth as a toe injury would derail most of Irving’s freshman season on campus, only to return during the NCAA tournament. Ultimately during his time on the court, he chose to wear the model of a future teammate in which he donned the Nike Zoom Soldier IV. Year: 2011-2012 By this point in time, we understand the impact of “show-stopper” Kyrie Irving’s exploits during All-Star weekend. Although he was merely rookie at the time, his elaborate and vibrant Nike Hyperdunk 2011 PE caught plenty of attention as well as his stellar stat line. He would incur totals of 34 points, 9 assists and 3 rebounds in the Rising Stars Challenge. Year: 2012-2013 Although the Cavaliers during the 2012-2013 season were rather lowly in terms of NBA standings, their one proverbial “bright spot” was Kyrie Irving. Having contests in which the former Duke guard would score at frenetic paces, his skill set was at full showcase in a January 2013 contest north of the border. With only seconds remaining, Kyrie would inbound the balls and slowly stalk his way up the court. Sizing up his defender in a meticulous manner, Irving would rise up in a Cavs PE of the Nike Lunar Hyperdunk 2013 and sink the eventual game winner with only seconds remaining.

With performances like that, it’s rather easy to see why LeBron had his eye focused on his home state team during that season. Year: 2012-2013 During the 2013 Rising Stars Challenge, conventional wisdom would inquire that Kyrie Irving would take things lightly due to the fact that he would be a participant in the big game on Sunday night as an All-Star reserve. Nonetheless, it seems as though Kyrie’s competitive juices got flowing as he became both an NBA and social media sensation by destroying the self-esteem of Brandon Knight with a vicious crossover resulting in the fall of Mr. Knight.

Finishing the contest with 32 points and 6 assists, it was rather remarkable that Irving didn’t go home with the MVP award. He would still dominate the weekend in Houston. Year: 2013-2014 It seems as though Kyrie Irving has a thing for the big stage as he was the brightest star amongst stars during the 2014 NBA All-Star game in New Orleans as he garnered MVP honors. Sporting a PE of the very first Nike Zoom HyperRev model, Irving’s dribbling exhibition drew the admiration of the audience while his assist totals had to draw the adoration of his respective teammates.

With Irving securing MVP honors, he became one of the youngest players to ever garner the award, joining the like of LeBron James. Year: 2014-2015 Anytime you’re able to unveil your signature sneaker, that is the highlight of anyone’s career. But when you make that unveil at the “Mecca of Basketball” it tends to take on a whole new meaning. Unveiling his Nike Kyrie 1 at the Garden back in December of 2014, Irving joined the stellar lineage of hoops stars with their own Nike shoe.

Dropping an impressive 37 points, along with the game-sealing tear drop in the 4th quarter, it’s safe to assume that Irving was more than energized for this performance at the NYC. Year: 2015-2016 The growing consensus prior to the start of the 2015-2016 NBA season was that Kyrie Irving would be shelved until Christmas. In sports, those timetables can be a bit fickle and tend to vary upon teams’ reluctancy to put their star players at risk (i.e. Derrick Rose circa 2013). However, Kyrie would make his way back to the hardwood ahead of schedule as the Cavaliers were set to take one the Philadelphia 76ers.

In a rather poignant tweet, Irving would simply proclaim that he’s “back” on the eve of the game. Shaking off the rust, Kyrie would unveil his latest Nike Kyrie 2 silhouette and tally 12 points in his return.

Select Imagery via Slam Magazine, Sole Collector and Getty Images

With our very own Nick DePaula recently scoring an in-depth interview with noted designer Leo Chang, the intricacies of the Nike…

[1224791,1225493
1225659,1225551,1223982,1206901,1223308

2":"type-post

2009-2010 // Kyrie Irving at St. Patrick’s High School

Kyrie Irving in the Air Jordan 12 “Rising Sun”
