As the NFL playoffs connive to churn on with the divisional matches set to take place this weekend, a variety of intriguing storylines continue to emerge. For starters, the relocation to Los Angeles of two franchises continues to dominate the media-sphere, but as it pertains to “on-field” action the status of Pittsburgh Steelers stars Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown continue to remain in question as the Steelers travel to Denver for an AFC matchup. The last time the Steelers defeated a Payton Manning led team in the playoffs, they ventured all the way to Super Bowl XL with their Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis.

With that in mind, the latest edition of Throwback Thursday takes a peek at one of the more slept on signature model within the Nike lineage: the Nike Total Air Bus Max.

Within the lineage of Nike’s cross trainers, NFL players have regularly dominated this platform. Although Kevin Hart has recently made an appearance into this legion, the likes of Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders, Darrelle Revis and other All-Pros have long been the cornerstones.

Coming out of Notre Dame, Jerome Bettis was seen by many to be a “can’t miss” prospect. Although draft time brings about that notion with a variety of players, Jerome was different. With nifty feet despite his larger frame, this Detroit native became the 10th pick of the Los Angeles Rams during the 1993 NFL draft. During his rookie season Bettis was voted as a First-Team All-Pro member, a Pro Bowler as well as finishing second in the league with over 1,400 rushing yards.

After turmoil following the team’s venture to St. Louis, Bettis requested to be traded prior to the 1996 season, in which he landed in Pittsburgh. With his career revitalized, Bettis would go on to be a three-time Steelers MVP, along with ranking sixth all time within the team’s lineage in rushing yards and amass over 13,000 yards.

As mentioned previously, Bettis would make his final season in the NFL remarkable as helped lead the Steelrs to a Super Bowl XL victory in his hometown of Detroit in 2005.

Now although we laid out his entire career within the previous page, back in 1998 Nike saw it fit to reward the efforts and standout play of Bettis with the unveil of his Nike Total Air Bus Max. Garnering the name from Bettis’ nickname, this model features Nike Air cushioning throughout the entire outsole, along with an inner bootie for further comfort and performance functionality.

In addition, the molded outsole allowed for users to don this silhouette on astro turf which was a staple of American Football during the 1990s.

As the NFL playoffs connive to churn on with the divisional matches set to take place this weekend, a variety…

[1224791,1225514
1225736,1225484

2":"type-post

Nike Cross Trainer History
