If you grew up in or anywhere close to Texas, you know a thing or two about sneaker mishaps in the heat. I personally lost a few pairs to insufferable temperatures after leaving a pair in the backseat of a car with no window tint or worse, in the truck.

But I’ve never seen a pair melt while on foot. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to Anthony Taylor, a defensive back at Allen High School in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. With temperatures reaching 106 degrees during a practice earlier this week, Taylor’s Nike Vapor Untouchable proved to be very touchable indeed – as the shoe literally withered due to the sweltering heat.

Check out this image snapped by Taylor’s trainer, Mike Harrison, who shows off this unfortunate circumstance.
