According to the summer solstice, the official commencement of the years warmest period begins at midday on June 21. That said, you have just under a month and a half to get your hands on the sneakers you hope to wear this summer, or save some coin for the pairs you intend to secure.

Many attest that 2015 hasn’t been a great year for sneakers (thus far). And you’d be hard pressed to find many who’d disagree. But could things begin to pick up with the start of summer? We believe this to be true. So much in fact, we took time to highlight 10 sneakers that will dominate summer 2015.

Sure, the Nike Air Huarache will always be a looming figure hovering above its many offsprings. Accordingly, 2014 was the year of the Air Huarache. And while 2015 may not entirely be the year of the Air Huarache Light, summer will certainly play host to its resurgence. Following NikeLab releases and new colorways just recently revealed, don’t be surprised if you find yourself with a few new pairs of Huarache Lights before fall.

The Air Jordan 11 Low releasing in summer is not a new trend. In fact, last year saw several colorways litter the warm weather months, including the coveted “Concord” Lows. But this year is unique in that not only are the “Playoff” and “Citrus” releases highly anticipated, but the return of the Air Jordan 11 Low IE “Cobalt” is expected in August. This break in monotony is just the awakening the Air Jordan 11 Low needs.

Undeniably the shoe of the summer for Nike, the Sock Dart has ventured far beyond its humble beginnings in 2004. Thanks to fragment design collaborations, strong inline releases, and even a fake camo pair that had everyone up in arms, everyone will be angling for a pair (or two) this summer. And if that “Grape” pair drops? *Flex bombs*

With news that adidas sales have soared 29% since Kanye West came aboard, it’s clear that his influence is impactful as we all thought. Following the success of the adidas Yeezy Boost, its low-cut counterpart is arguably the most sought after shoe this summer (or perhaps this fall). And with a price point said to be in the low $200’s, this more accessible option could be an even bigger hit than its predecessor. Now if we could just get a release date all will be right with the world.

A first look at the Nike KD 8 finally surfaced earlier this week with mixed chatter immediately following the leaked imagery. Incorporating what looks to be a woven upper – similar to that of the Air Jordan XX9 – what follows is an enlarged midsole and full length Air Unit below. It’s rumored that Flyknit variations of the shoe may eventually be available. Could that be leading towards a HTM KD 8? We’ll have to wait and see. But one thing is for sure, we’ll be talking about this shoe all summer long.

adidas Basketball really hit a homerun with the Crazylight Boost 2015. Improving upon last year’s model, adidas lightened the shoe greatly, while also enhancing the performance hoops silhouettes tooling and Boost cushioning. Summer effectively transitions basketball to an outdoor sport almost exclusively. Trust us when we say you’ll see the Crazylight Boost 2015 a lot on the blacktop.

Over the past few months Nike has been ramping up the releases of its coveted Flyknit Racer. Adorning the shoe Bright Crimson, Oreo, Sport Turquoise, and retuning the OG Black/White colorway, expect the Racer to makes waves over the next few months. And expect the internet to go completely insane when these Multicolor joints drop.

For all intents and purposes, the Nike Kobe X is flying below the radar this spring. Expect a complete 180 come summer. Point being, this shoe is ideal for the months ahead and outdoor wears. A well performing on-court shoe worn by seemingly everyone but Bean himself, it’s hard to imagine the Kobe X won’t fly from shelves when summer basketball heats up.

Air Jordan 11 Low
