Since Fabolous first stepped onto the hip hop scene, he displayed an undeniable love for fashion. From throwback jerseys, to fitted caps, to sneakers, Fabolous has always found a way to be current in what seems to be the trends at those specific times.

Recently, Fabolous, set foot in Houston, Texas to aid Reebok in promoting its Classic Remix Collection. In the midst of everything going on, such as a concert and autograph sessions and most of all the promotion of the Reebok collection, Snkrs Day caught up with the New York rapper to discuss various sneaker and music topics.

Click here to view his take on the Nike Air Max series, what he does not like about the sneaker world today and what he envisions doing with your favorite sneaker website!

Fabolous: I mean it’s good. It’s good to see people still support good music and good hip hop; not just from me, or the east coast, or from New York but just good hip hop as a whole.

Snkrs Day: The mini-movie Loso’s Way, was a great addition to the CD. It left us on a major cliff hanger.? Can we expect the second installment or possibly a entire movie? Fabolous: Yeah, we’re working on the 2nd part for Loso’s way 2. That’s what the movie was for; to build the anticipation and build a following so people can get used to it and want to see me in that lane of entertainment.

Snkrs Day: Let’s now talk sneakers since this is the real reason we are here. In your song When the Money Goes ft Jay-Z, you have a line that states, “In the same lime green as the Air Max Joggers.” Is that one of? your favorite shoes?

Fabolous: Yeah, I mean the Air max 95 is a classic shoe. Nike knows it. That’s why they bring the shoe out every summer. Plus, it does well for them, so that’s why it was thrown in there. It’s a shoe I have had a few times.

Snkrs Day: So are you a big Air Max fan as a whole or do you stick to the 95’s?

Fabolous: I mean, I do a bunch of the Air Max’s. In my younger times, I was more of a ’95 dude but now I kind of moved around and I’ll do the 90’s. I might do the 91’s here and there, so I move around a little bit.

Snkrs Day: On the Street Dreams album, you made a song solely about throwback jerseys. Can we expect a song solely about shoes in the future, or will you leave that to Nelly (Air Forces, Stepped On My J’s)? Fabolous: I might leave that to Nelly, but you never know though. I might do it. If it’s right it’s right. If not, I’ll just leave it alone. Snkrs Day: Can you tell us how the collaboration with Reebok came about?

Fabolous: As you know, Reebok is doing a remix to its classic shoes. Who better to collaborate with than the dude that everybody in music wants for a remix? They came with me to spearhead the campaign, and I thought it was dope because also, they’re remixing their classic shoe. Plus, I just put out Loso’s Way which is going to be a classic when it’s all said and done.

Snkrs Day: If you can think back, what is the one shoe that got you addicted to sneakers? Fabolous: I don’t even know. I can’t even remember what shoe it was. I just know, from a very young age, I was a sneaker head. It was way before I started rapping and everything. I just always wanted the new hot shoes, the new hot Nikes and that stuck with me. So the more money I got, it just got worse.

Snkrs Day: Since you have been liking shoes for a while, what shoes where hot when you and your friends were growing up? Fabolous: Aw man! Everything from the Delta Forces to the Ewing’s. Reebok definitely had their run at the time. Fila was cracking as well. At that time, it was more than just one or two shoes that’s in the mainstay right now. Then, it was Adidas, Nike, Reebok, Fila, Diadora, Etonic and Avia. Everybody had one of the shoes you needed to have.

Snkrs Day: How many shoes would you say you own today?

Fabolous: It’s a couple of hundred. I would definitely say at least about 400-500 probably.

Snkrs Day: Are you big on wearing your shoes or are you more of a collector? Fabolous: I just got into collecting. Really, just the packs and putting the packs up and wanting to save those. Some of them I haven’t worn yet; some things like special edition joints, one-night-only Nike’s and stuff they customized for me plus some Reeboks are the shoes I put aside. But pretty much I’m a wearer. I like to rock the shoes. I’m not one of those guys who puts them in a glass case just to look at them. I like for people to know that they are on my feet too.

Snkrs Day: Can you tell me something you don’t like about the shoe game right now?

Fabolous: I don’t like how all these fakes are out. I’m starting to see shoes I didn’t even know you could fake. People are very creative now.

Snkrs Day: What’s next for you as far as music and shoes? Fabolous: With shoes, maybe you will see a collaboration with me and Reebok. Musically, I’m going to be on tour, so I’ll be running around doing that. I’m also looking into some television and movie stuff? that I have in the works. I’m just really working. This year is going to be a busy year for me musically and on the sneaker side. I’m looking to do some collaborations with people.

Snkrs Day: Is there anything else you want to tell the Snkrs Day readers?

Fabolous: Aw man, you know, I definitely keep my shoe game up! I heard that Jim Jones did a little fresh pick of his shoes on Twitter (see here), so I think I might have to start that up because I have a lot of different kicks. Everybody doesn’t get to see them. Maybe I’ll do a section with Snkrs Day. I’ll do a once-a-week joint or something.

Since Fabolous first stepped onto the hip hop scene, he displayed an undeniable love for fashion.
