In less than a few years on the scene and just shy of a couple decades on the Earth, Bishop Nehru has already received the endorsement of Nas and MF Doom. Not bad. While the 18-year old MC has caught the co-signs to captivate the purists of hip-hop purists, the next step is the putting together the catalog to match. Today, Nehru makes moves in that direction with the release of Nehruvia: The Nehruvian EP. Flipping from on wax to on foot, find out what Nehru’s rocking these days in the latest My 5.

Bishop Nehru: “I actually copped a pair of the OGs I believe before they re-released in like 9th grade. Since I was younger, the 8s were always my favorite Jordans — those and the “Cherry” 10s. I had the “Bugs Bunny” 8s and the “Playoff” 8s, but I got the “Playoffs” first and always kind of connected with them. Plus, Bugs Bunny used to be one of my favorite cartoons so that’s another reason why I wear the 8s a lot.”

Bishop Nehru: “I’ve always worn Vans since like middle school. They were cheap, they looked better than Converse, I didn’t have a lot of money and I could wear them to skate, too. They weren’t really big in New York at all, but I look at different cultures and different places. I’m not only New York because I’m from New York. I like Los Angeles music, Southern music, music from Houston…but it wasn’t like I was looking at people in LA to find Vans, I just happened to find them and like them at the store that was around.”

Bishop Nehru: “I met Michael Jordan in Atlantic City. It was around the time Like Mike came out because I had the blue and white Uptowns that Lil Bow Wow had in the movie. I used to think that I took Jordan’s powers after that. I got super nice at ball too, I was like 6 or 7. Mike was cool, he palmed my head and everything and was like, “What up, lil man?” [As for Jordans] I don’t buy every single Jordan that releases just to get it. Whichever ones I like that’s pretty much the ones that I get.”

Bishop Nehru: “I got those like nine months ago. I always wanted them because they’re all black and have a nice little streak of silver on them. A lot of the sneakers I get now I couldn’t get then because I didn’t have money for it. Now I kind of just buy stuff that I always wanted, not even just for myself. The “Chrome” 2s I wanted since high school.”

Bishop Nehru: “I originally copped in 2010 when I was in 8th grade graduating middle school. They got messed up, but they were like my favorite. Honestly, I like the Black/Infrareds too, I just happened to get the Black/Varsity Reds then.”

Listen to Bishop Nehru’s Nehruvia: The Nehruvian EP now on SoundCloud.
