words // Pierce Simpson:

As yet another release of the LeBron James “Fruity Pebbles” series is set to hit retailers with the Nike LeBron 12, it seems fitting that within the latest edition of Snkrs Day Throwback Thursday we take a look at the “sugary” renditions of the LBJ signatures. To review the history yourself, flip through the pages below to get a detailed account of the Fruity Peebles Nike LeBron series.

As many basketball enthusiasts may know, LeBron James is honestly one of the most jovial players to ever grace an NBA hardwood. With his brilliant smile ala Magic Johnson, LeBron’s ascension from the high school ranks to elite status has always kept him as the proverbial kid within the league despite his Goliath type physique.

However, this notion couldn’t have any more evident than in 2006 as Nike and LeBron released the “Fruity Pebble” iteration of the Nike LeBron IV. This particular model would provide further confirmation to the aforementioned notion along with highlighting his favorite sugary treat.

As mentioned prior, the first “Fruity Pebbles” model of the LeBron James signature line was the Nike LeBron IV. This rugged and a boot-like silhouette featured fruity pebble-styled imagery throughout the midsole while white comprised a majority of the upper. In addition, the inner-lining of the model is coated with purple details, as well as the outsole, which pays further homage to the Post cereal.

LeBron first sported the “Fruity Pebbles” Nike LeBron IV during a 2006 matchup against the Atlanta Hawks. In a contest that featured the cream-sicle NBA Hardwood Classic throwbacks of the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron produced a stat line of 31 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. The Cleveland Cavaliers would ascend to elite status that season as they garnered an impressive 50-win total, along with making their way to the NBA Finals.

After a subsequent seven year hiatus, the “Fruity Pebbles” hue return to the Nike LeBron lineage as the aforementioned color palette decorated the Nike LeBron 11 model. Incorporating more of a tonal makeup, hues of bright red canvassed the upper. In addition, the plethora of colors are seen in a cascading fashion along the outsole and laces of the model as this Fruity Pebbles iteration was solely released for GS demographics.

The legacy of the Nike LeBron “Fruity Pebbles” series will forever remain apart of Nike lore due to its extreme exclusivity and astronomical reseller price on the open market. However, over the years, various athletes and celebrities have been spotted in various silhouettes of the series, such as former University of Pittsburgh guard Lamar Patterson who sported the Nike LeBron IV “Fruity Pebbles” during the 2013-2014 college basketball season and recording artist K.Michelle who was seen in the Nike LeBron 11 model.

Building upon those previous variables, as long as LeBron continues to ascend towards iconic status and his respective signature models continue to boast great aesthetics, the Fruity Pebble series will remain a constant within Mr.James’ staple of hues.

words // Pierce Simpson: As yet another release of the LeBron James “Fruity Pebbles” series is set to hit retailers with the…

[1219126
117,1225484

2":"type-post

The Same Kid: LeBron James
