As you may have noticed all week we have paid tribute to the iconic Kobe Bryant who unfortunately will not be able to participate in this year’s NBA All-Star game festivities. However, as mentioned previously, we celebrate the Mamba’s legacy by unveiling the final installment of the Kobe Chronicles in which today we’ll take things back to 2011 as Kobe secured his third All-Star Game MVP. To see more, flip through the pages below to get a detailed account of Kobe’e performance in the Nike Zoom Kobe VI.

After years of disappointment that included two NBA finals losses and the demise of a dynasty, the Los Angeles Lakers were poised to re-build from a tumultuous middle-portion of the decade. With the acquisition of All-Star forward Pau Gasol during the 2007-2008 season, Kobe Bryant would secure his first NBA league MVP as his averages of 28.3 points per game, along with 6.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists per outing made his case for supremacy formidable.

However, while the accolades of that year were superb for Bryant and company, the Lakers would eventually fall short to the revamped Boston Celtics during the 2008 NBA Finals in which the Lakers would lose four games to two.

After suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of the Boston Celtics during the 2008 NBA Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers re-tooled and came back for redemption during the 2008-2009 NBA season. Finishing with 65-17 record, the Lakers garnered the one seed in the Western Conference and eventually secured their first title in nearly ten years against the Orlando Magic.

The very next season, the Los Angeles Lakers would repeat their Championship endeavors as they captured another title against the team that beat them in 2008, the Boston Celtics. As the Lakers were on the verge of building another dynasty, Bryant would leave his imprint as he secured consecutive NBA Finals MVP awards, along with gaining traction on Michael Jordan’s illustrious six championship rings.

After boasting two impressive NBA Finals victories, the Los Angeles Lakers seemed poised to three-peat for the second time in a decade as a roster lined with the likes of Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum seemed very formidable. With Bryant entering his 15th season, the Mamba seemed dead pressed to build his own dynasty without Shaq, as he entered the season rocking the Nike Zoom Kobe VI.

The Chase
