With that in mind, it seems fitting that the first Thursday of the month we take a look at a model that will finally grace retail shelves for the first time in ten years.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Nike Air Force One &#8220;BHM<\/strong>&#8221; is model featured in today&#8217;s episode of <strong>Throwback Thursday<\/strong>, as we explore its defining history. Now before discussing the model, we must first provide some context to the year in question as we do with any other model on Snkrs Day #TBT. For starters, we witnessed the New England Patriots capture their second consecutive Super Bowl title as they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Detroit Pistons in the 2005 NBA Finals and the Christopher Nolan-era of the Batman trilogy began with the theatrical release of <em>Batman Begins<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BZdik09RGJI?rel=0\" width=\"750\" height=\"563\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Nike Air Force One &#8220;BHM<\/h2>\n<p>The Nike Air Force One &#8220;BHM&#8221; utilizes the iconic Nike AF1 silhouette that has been a Nike staple since 1982. With its initial release back in 2005, this model is re-releasing this year for its 10-year anniversary. For starters this model features a mostly white upper while accents of university red highlight the Swoosh model and heel tab. In addition, the Pan-African flag is embroidered along the heel counter, thus boosting the commemorative nature of this model.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Meaning of the Pan-African Flag<\/h2>\n<p>The Pan-African Flag is very familiar to a variety of people but may remain a bit vague to plenty. For starters, the Pan-African flag was predominately adopted in 1920 as a national symbol for the liberation for people of African descant. The flag would become even more popular during the 1960&#8217;s civil rights movement and the 1990&#8217;s enlightenment of African culture within the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The colors of the Pan-African flag are significant as the red hues represent the blood of those with African ancestry\u00a0and the lives lost during the fight for liberation. The black represents the black people whose existence\u00a0as a nation, though not a nation-state is affirmed through the flag. Lastly, the green embodies the wealth of natural resources in Africa.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Legacy of the Nike Air Force One &#8220;BHM&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p>The legacy of the Nike Air Force One &#8220;BHM&#8221; remains niche due to its exclusive nature and 10-plus year hiatus since its original release. However, the impact this commemorative silhouette should loom large as last year&#8217;s Nike BHM collection generated over $1 million in assisting organizations that help undeserved youth.
