Last month, it was announced that Crooked Tongues would be shutting down shop. This came as a major bummer to fans of the site from both an e-commerce and editorial perspective.

On the editorial side, the work of Gary Warnett read like a witty Webster. Equal parts educational and comical, Gary’s voice and knowledge on all facets of footwear made the site a must read for longtime collectors and newbies alike.

Following the end of CT, Gary took the time to write on his personal site about his time with the Crooked Tongues (it’s worth the read, check it out here). While the business side of CT’s closing isn’t too uncommon of a story, more surprisingly his start with the site isn’t either. Gary started out as a fan of Crooked Tongues, much like the current staff at Snkrs Day (myself included) and many other publications in the sneaker editorial realm did. Pretty cool to hear one of the greats in a still young industry came in the same way.
