Over the past few years, Nike has brought out Kobe Bryant NIKEiDs in various and creative ways. Some of them have been inspired by an accomplishment, including the “Mamba Moment” Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low iD and others been designed by fans, such as the “Kid Hollywood” Kobe V. All in all, The Black Mamba has had some pretty alluring NIKEiDs over the years that have been available to the public. Check out our chronological look at Kobe Bryant’s seven best on-court NIKEiDs.

Kobe Bryant debuted a special NIKEiD version of the Nike Zoom Kobe IV in a 2008 NBA Finals rematch between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics on Christmas Day of the same year. This particular Kobe IV featured a traditional Lakers color scheme of purple, white and yellow in addition to a contrasting set of red shoelaces. A week before the Kobe IV’s debut on NIKEiD, Nike offered the opportunity to design one’s own Nike Zoom Kobe IV iD at NikeTown NYC. To score an appointment, you had to have been one of the first 24 people to visit NIKEiD at NikeTown.

In March of 2009, Kobe Bryant wore his “Valenti” NIKEiD edition of the Kobe IV in a game against the Houston Rockets. Valenti, which means skillful in Italian, was printed along the collar of the shoe in yellow. This Kobe IV also made use of a black Flywire upper, a yellow Swoosh, a black leather collar and a black suede toe.

At the beginning of 2010, Nike held a Kobe V iD contest in which fans got the opportunity to submit iD designs for a chance to have Kobe wear the winning creation that he handpicked himself. The winning design, created by Jason Hamilton, aka Kid Hollywood, featured the common Laker purple-and-gold theme on a metallic silver and white upper. Hamilton’s Kobe V iD was worn by Kobe, Derek Fisher, Lamar Odom, and other Lakers.

During the latter part of the 2010-2011 NBA season, Kobe Bryant faced the Dallas Mavericks in a NIKEiD creation dubbed the “Run 4 Six,” which alluded to Kobe’s chase for a sixth NBA Championship following the previous season’s Finals win against the Boston Celtics. The subtle iD featured a black snake-textured upper with hits of white in the form of branding. Varsity purple accents graced the inner liner, number 24 personalization and outsole. Stitched on the back of the tongues are the words “Run 4 Six.”

Kobe Bryant opted to debut his brightest and most vibrant Kobe VII during the NBA Playoffs against Oklahoma City. His postseason iD was comprised of a predominately yellow base with minimal blacks accents in the form of branding, the midsole and laces.

Much like the “Kid Hollywood” Kobe V, Nike again held an iD contest for a design that Kobe Bryant would wear on court. He made good on his promise of wearing the fan-designed NIKEiD Kobe 8 during the latter part of the 2012-2013 NBA season in March. Inglewood native @7THCHAMBERPT2’s design featured a Lakers ‘Holiday’ upper and a speckled midsole.

Lakers living legend Kobe Bryant eclipsed Michael Jordan on the NBA’s all-time scoring list Sunday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves and in honor of the achievement, Nike equipped him with a special edition “Mamba Moment” Nike Kobe 9 Elite iD that features a brand new Flyknit scheme of purple and green. The Black Mamba’s latest wear was unleashed as a quickstrike on NIKEiD for $245 moments after Bryant surpassed MJ on the scoring list with a free throw.

Over the past few years, Nike has brought out Kobe Bryant NIKEiDs in various and creative ways.
