2014 is just about in the books. Like previous years, the number of high profile launches and active sneakerheads both grew, resulting in what felt like more releases than ever before.

Over the course of the year, we did our best to call early which models would dominate 2014. Season by season, we explored the silos that we believed would make the most noise. Now looking back, we name the ten models that dominated 2014. Listed in no order, give us your feedback on the selected silos below and let us know which model you think dominated the year the most.

Every year, the lone Air Jordan 11 launch is the highlight of the holiday season. In 2014, we will see two highly anticipated AJ11 Mids releasing: a renamed OG and a sought after sample colorway. While those are events in itself, the AJ11 really made major strides in 2014 by the summer Lows becoming must-have launches. The “Concord,” “Green Snakeskin” and “Infrared 23” takes all released to positive fanfare. Expect more of the same in 2015.

In 2014, every sneakerhead learned what the adidas Stan Smith was even if they didn’t pick up a pair. A steady rollout of wide ranging collabs catered to a global audience while red carpet endorsement by Pharrell kept the silo in the limelight. With retro running and heritage hoops still strong though all but tapped out in regard to unarchived models, it was only a matter of time before throwback tennis began to trend again. Adidas clocked in right on schedule.

2013 was the year of the Air Jordan 1, but the model more than mattered in 2014. SB collabs, basic OG colorways and strong Nouveau makeups kept the iconic silo on the pages of the blogs and on the feet of wearers all year long. Will the Air Jordan 1 go the way of the Dunk in 2015 for better or worse? Only time will tell, but we’d love to see more classic color blocking on the OG Hi.

While the Pure Boost won over anyone who tried on a pair and the ZX Flux changed the game with the #miFLUX App, the adidas Tubular Runner was truly ‘vapor in the market’ as Wex would say. All four inline colorways moved exceptionally well for a new model with no signature tagging or obvious retro roots. Fast follow-ups with Consortium colorways and the “New Year’s” Pack proved instant hits, leaning towards longevity for the Tubular transitioning into 2015.

While most retro rollouts eventually get played out due to poor colorways and oversaturation, the Air Jordan 6 stayed hot all year. By book-ending the calendar with two timeless OGs, the model maintained its momentum racking up far more hits than misses. The lone collab, the Slam Dunk 6s, had a strong story that really resonated. The premium makeups looked the part, and the “Sport Blue” colorway came back for the first time ever. Hat tip to JB for a great year of 6s.

Did the ASICS Gel Lyte V surpass the Gel Lyte III in popularity in 2014? That might be a stretch. Nevertheless, the sleek silo became a fan favorite due to its snug fit and flattering shape. More mature than the split-tongue trendsetter, the Gel Lyte V took well to premium palettes from Ronnie and more just the same. Will ASICS break a new retro runner in 2015 or will the Gel Lyte V keep striding? We’ll find out.

In 2013, Andre Agassi and the Swoosh reunited. While “Wimbledon” and “Tech Pack” launches excited fans, they were unattainable to most. The perfect set up play, Nike served the masses with Tech Challenge II colorways for all of 2014s. OGs were easy to get but not over-saturated, while tourney takes followed the same premium styling and limited availability seen the year before. The 3/4 cut proved an easy crossover to the court for fans of the Flight 89 and Air Jordan 4, opening the lane for a wider acceptance of retro and performance tennis shoes amongst sneakerheads.

The model that made headlines for all of 2012 and 2013 was still a force in 2014. The Nike Air Yeezy 2 “Red October” saw the Swoosh pulling a Beyonce, surprisingly dropping the most coveted kicks in the world on a random Sunday in February via Twitter link. While the shoes themselves caused a stir, it was really the trickle down effect of “Yeezy” inspired colorways that followed that proved its power. 2015 looks to be Yeezi Season for adidas and we can’t wait to see what they cook up.

At the moment, Kevin Durant and LeBron James are both hotter names than Kobe Bryant. Still, the Black Mamba proved to have the most coveted signature sneaker in 2014. High on cut and innovation, the Nike Kobe 9 shifted shape over the course of the year while retaining momentum the whole way.

Some remember, some may have forgot, but the Nike Air Huarache came back in 2007 in some fire colorways to relatively lukewarm responses. In 2014, the sock-structured runner came back with pretty much no promo or marketing campaign, unexpectedly garnering rave reviews. The difference? Perhaps it was joggers and modern style evolution making the retro shoe more wearable. Maybe Roshes and Flyknits tailing off but upping the ante for comfort opened a lane. It’s hard to quite pinpoint it, but the Nike Air Huarache proved the surprise hit of the year.
