With the first month of the 2014-2015 NBA season now behind us, we take a broad look at the Kicks On Court Champion race and the highlights we’ve witnessed so far.

Aldridge’s Kicks On Court Index so far: “Playoff” Air Jordan 11, “Concord” Air Jordan 11, “He Got Game” Air Jordan 13, “Barons” Air Jordan 13, Air Jordan 13 Black/Gym Red

One of the biggest surprises of the new season has been LaMarcus Aldridge’s choice of footwear. Upon signing with Jordan Brand right before the season kicked off, we expected to see the All-Star power forward in the brand’s newest performance models, such as the Jordan Super.Fly 3, the Air Jordan XX9 or the Jordan Prime.Fly Tech. Instead, Aldridge has consistently laced up beloved retros.

Robinson’s Kicks On Court Index so far: “Miro” Air Jordan 7, “Gamma Blue” Air Jordan 12, “Taxi” Air Jordan 12, “Rising Sun” Air Jordan 12, “Playoff” Air Jordan 13, “Obsidian” Air Jordan 12

You can count on Nate Robinson to wear the “Playoff” Air Jordan 13 and the “Rising Sun” Air Jordan 12 each season no matter which roster he’s on. Yet, he has also mixed in other well-received retros, such as the “Miro” Air Jordan 7, so far this season.

Smith’s Kicks On Court Index so far: “Easy Money” Nike KD7, “Legacy” Nike Kobe 9 Elite, “Peach Cream” Nike Kobe 9 EM, “Knicks” Nike Air Foamposite One, Nike Hyperdunk 2014 iD (in honor of his late grandfather), “On the Road” Nike KD7

J.R. Smith is one of the most consistent Kicks On Court guys in the NBA. He’s also big into variety, as he has worn gems from the signature lines of Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Penny Hardaway.

Ross’ Kicks On Court Index so far: “Elephant Print” Nike Air Foamposite Pro, Nike Zoom KD IV iD, Nike Sonic Flight (2), “Playoff” Air Jordan 8, “Toro Bravo” Air Jordan 4, “Victory” Nike Kobe 9 Elite, “Gold” Nike Kobe 9 Elite, Air Jordan 5Lab3

Terrence Ross has worn a nice variety of Kobes, KDs, Jordans and Pennys so far this season. Look for him to bring out more of a variety as the season unfolds.

Morris’ Kicks On Court Index so far: “Laser Crimson” Nike Air Foamposite Pro PRM, All-White Nike Air Foamposite One, “Black Suede” Nike Air Foamposite One, “Suns” Nike Air Foamposite One, Pink Nike Air Foamposite One, “Metallic Pewter” Nike Air Foamposite One, “Gem Green” Nike Air Foamposite Pro, Nike Air Foamposite One Black/White

Markieff Morris has only worn Foams this season, and it has been impressive. In detail, Morris has laced up eight different Foams in 16 games.

Cunningham’s Kicks On Court Index so far: “He Got Game” Air Jordan 13, “University Blue” Air Jordan 2, “Dark Neon Royal” Nike Air Foamposite One, “Metallic Red” Nike Air Foamposite One, “’96 All-Star Game” Nike Air Penny I, “Nubuck” Air Jordan 12, Blue Jordan Team One

If given more playing time, Jared Cunningham would be a fan-favorite Kicks On Court Champion nominee each year. He’s still shocking many with his wears from time to time, like the “Metallic Red” Foamposite and the “Dark Neon Royal” Foamposite.

Wroten’s Kicks On Court Index so far: “Metallic Silver” Nike Chuck Posite, Nike KD7 “Global Game,” Nike Barkley Posite Max “USA,” “Good Apples” Nike KD7, “Calm Before the Storm” Nike KD7, “Mango” Nike LeBron 9, Nike Air Penny I White/Red, “Metallic Silver” Nike Total Air Foamposite Max

Although Tony Wroten stated that he wouldn’t put as much focus on the Kicks On Court Champion race this year as he did in the past, the Renton, Washington native is still a big player in our footwear documentation.

James’ Kicks On Court Index so far: Nine Nike LeBron 12 PEs, “Heart of a Lion” Nike LeBron 12

LeBron James is our first signature athlete that is a definite Kicks On Court Champion nominee. We’ve already seen 10 different Nike LeBron 12 PEs in 14 games.

DeRozan’s Kicks On Court Index so far: Nike Kobe 9 Elite Black/White, “University Red” Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low, Prelude Nike Zoom Kobe I, Nike Kobe 9 Elite “Masterpiece,” “Detail” Nike Kobe 9 Elite, Nike Kobe 9 iD (4)

DeMar DeRozan is killing the competition in more Kobes than Kobe Bryant himself. Tucker’s level right now. The former UT Longhorn has worn a numerous amount of rare shoes and unforgettable PEs and says, “he’s just getting started.”

Guys, like DeMar DeRozan, Terrence Ross, Louis Williams and Amir Johnson, make up this team’s identity in regards to kicks on court.

P.J. Tucker somehow got his hands on two Michael Finley Air Jordan 14 PEs from his San Antonio Spurs days.

In honor of the Canadian Armed Forces’ fallen members, the Toronto Raptors donned NBA Cares Hoops for Troops shirts during warm-ups and camouflage sleeved jerseys for the game on the team’s annual Remembrance Day Tuesday night against the Orlando Magic. Louis Williams opted to wear the gold Air Jordan 3 “OVO” that he scored from Drake to accompany the Raptors’ camouflage uniforms. The “Veterans Day” Nike LeBron 12 is arguably LeBron James’ best PE of the season because of its highly-detailed accents.

When does black and purple not look good on a shoe?

Now that he’s fully recovered from his thumb injury, expect Nick Young to return his Kicks On Court Champion-winning ways. Isaiah Thomas is no longer with Reebok and has been switching from Jordan to Jordan as of late, while Wilson Chandler, not usually known for his kicks on court, brought out some gems, such as the ’88 Retro Air Jordan 3 and an exotic Nike KD7, as of late.

10.
