A$AP Twelvyy has a decorated and well documented sneaker resume. Always up on early LeBrons and retro+ Jordans from way back, 2-12 has been in this game for years, but what was the first pair of sneakers to really get it poppin’ for him? Fresh off the release of his “Glock Rivers” video, peep what he had to say about the shoes that got him hooked in the latest Kickstarter.

A$AP Twelvyy: “The Air Jordan 7 “Hare” in ’92. That’s just a pair that I remember somebody getting me and thinking they were just flavor. I love those. Those sneakers really made me start feeling like I wanted to get kicks. I think my uncle got them for me, either him or my mother. I was kind of young, so since Jordans were popular my mom felt like her son had to have these.”

“Once I was 15 or 16, I had bought my first pair of LeBrons. I bought the Zoom LeBron IV in Black/Red-White. They were like $150. After that I just had to have LeBrons. Back then, I think it was on some hoop stuff. Before they really started making sneaker themes or attaching accolades to them, I used to be like, ‘I want these Jordans because Jordan did this in them.’ Not really because of the color, but because of what he actually did, like game-winners and certain dunks. I really dig deep into that. It makes me feel like him when I’m in the studio. If I have these 4s on then I’m feeling like Jordan when he hit that game-winner. You’ve got to feel like the best, you’ve got to feel like the greatest.”

Keep up with A$AP Twelvyy on Twitter and Instagram. Peep the video for his single “Glock Rivers” below.
