This weekend’s release of the Air Jordan 14 “Ferrari” draws from the original design’s inspiration and takes it a step further with a correlating 550M candy paint job. Michael Jordan’s favorite ride is represented with a premium red upper, a metallic silver shank plate and Ferrari-yellow detailing throughout to create a direct interpretation of the speedster. Although the upcoming Air Jordan 14 has been in the spotlight as of late, there is a long list of other notable sneakers and colorways that have been inspired by sports cars. From an adidas Kobe signature and a vintage ASICS collaboration to the latest LeBron shoe and other Air Jordans, fast cars have long been connected to sneakers. Inspiration: DeLorean DMC-12

The DeLorean from Back to the Future might be the fastest car to inspire a sneaker, as it was fast enough for time travel. Doc Brown’s automobile inspired a pair of Nike SB Dunk Lows that featured a metallic silver upper with the car’s DMC tag on the heels and its unique taillight design on the outsole. These made a Quickstrike release in 2010 as a prelude to the Nike Air Mag‘s first release the following year.
