Kevin Durant announced over the weekend that he is officially remaining with Nike, continuing his long tenure wearing Swoosh sneakers. After an array of stories and speculation that the reigning NBA MVP was going to jump ship and join the Under Armour roster, the brand in Beaverton came back with a counteroffer that KD and his camp couldn’t refuse, keeping Durant’s signature series with Nike intact for a long time to come. From his time in high school at Oak Hill and Montrose Christian Academy, to his days in Austin with the Texas Longhorns, and ever since signing with the brand as a rookie in the NBA with the Supersonics and Thunder, the Easy Money Sniper has worn Swoosh and Air Jordan sneakers. In honor of his new deal, take a look back at a chronological timeline of Kevin Durant’s history in Nike shoes.

Kevin Durant’s love for Nike’s largest subsidiary is well-document, as KD is still consistently spotted in Air Jordan sneakers off of the court. Easy Money Sniper’s love for MJ’s kicks started early while the rising star was still in high school. Durant broke onto the scene during his junior year at the famed Oak Hill Academy wearing the Jordan Melo 1.5, then rose to the top of the rankings while playing his senior season at Montrose Christian Academy in the Air Jordan 14. The wiry prep star also wore Swoosh and Jumpman shoes in between, including Shox at Nike’s All-American Camp and the Air Jordan XIX at 5-Star Camp.

Coming out of high school as the second-ranked prep player in the country, Kevin Durant chose to take his game to Austin and play for Rick Barnes and the Texas Longhorns. KD would instantly dominate the college basketball landscape, ending the year with the Wooden Award as the National Player of the Year. Although teammates A.J. Abrams and Damion James continued the Air Jordan pace that Durant was with in high school, #35 kept it simple all year in the Nike Air Max Enforcer and Nike Huarache 64 over the course of his historic year at the Swoosh school.

Kevin Durant was loyal to the Swoosh since he was in high school, but the commitment was returned when he turned pro and Nike gave him a 7-year, $60 million endorsement deal. Spending his first season in Seattle with the Supersonics, Durant wasn’t instantly awarded an official signature sneaker, but the Rookie of the Year was connected to the Nike Air Flight Skool, as he donned different PEs of the model all season.

When the Sonics relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008 and became the Thunder, it was the perfect platform to roll out a sneaker for the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year. Although Kevin Durant started his sophomore season in team Swoosh shoes, he later debuted the Nike KD 1, kicking off his signature series. Seven years later, Durant is on now on the Nike KD 7 and has worn countless numbers of PEs and special edition sneakers over the course of his entire career to date.

Kevin Durant has been a mainstay at NBA All-Star weekend since his first season in the league, which has produced some of the most notable colorways of his signatures sneakers every year. From bright Nike Air Flight Skools and KD 1s during the Rookie Challenge, to the Nike KD IV “Galaxy”, the Easy Money Sniper has always shown out on the biggest stage.

Even though Kevin Durant dropped out of competition with USA Basketball this summer, the American superstar has a lengthy history of playing for his country and representing the stars and stripes. From an early age when he competed in the World University Games, to winning gold with the USA National Team in 2012, Durant has always sported Swooshes on his red, white and blue sneakers.

Source: Zimbio, Sports Illustrated, Five Star, Daily Thunder, Streetball

Kevin Durant announced over the weekend that he is officially remaining with Nike, continuing his long tenure wearing Swoosh sneakers.…

[618,835,1224791,1225493,1219126
1083,1206296,1213046

2":"type-post

High School
