Could the KD VII be the last signature shoe created for Kevin Durant by Nike? If so, the partnership between Nike and Kevin Durant produced some incredible shoes.

For our latest installment of Kick Chronicles, we, the Snkrs Day staff, detail and discuss our favorite Nike KD sneaker ever created. Check out the shoe each of us selected, and share with us your favorite KD of all time.

Twitter: @ianstonebrook/Instagram: ianstonebrook

A few years back, I remember flipping the channel to a game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Oklahoma City Thunder only to notice the entire team – bench included – wearing super, bright orange sneakers. We later figured out that this was the unofficial debut of the “Creamsicle” Nike KD II. I guess this is my favorite Nike KD ever because of how surprising it was to see these on court that night.

Twitter: @geokthree/Instagram: geokthree

Since my fellow UT alum Peter Sim snuck me for my favorite KD, I’ll have to settle for a close second. Although this one isn’t draped in burnt orange it is still one of my favorite KD-branded sneakers. The KD V “Energy” was the first basketball shoe I pick up after coming off a torn achilles injury; I wanted something high cut for obvious reasons. I rocked these KD Vs en route to a 5-1 intramural record, losing in the playoffs on a last-second half-court shot. The intramural team was comprised of my frat brothers, so of course I have countless memories while rocking the KD Vs.

Twitter: @C_White1911/Instagram: c_white1911

Sadly enough, I’ve never owned a pair of KDs. I’m just not a huge fan of basketball shoes, especially the modern models. However, I do have a favorite KD, and it’s more because of a funny story behind the shoe. When I worked at the Snkrs Day Shop, we had a loyal customer who was a huge KD fan. He had pretty much every colorway, and despite the shoes having their official nicknames, he always made up his own nicknames for the shoes, which usually referenced some kind of food. For example, he called the “All-Star” KD IIIs the “Strawberry Crushes,” but my favorite has to be the “Christmas” KD III, a shoe he referred to as the “Banana Puddings.”

I miss talking to that guy because he really had a authentic love for the sneakers, and in no way was concerned with the hype. I often see people getting on other people who get nicknames wrong, and to me, it’s not that big of a deal. I think the sneaker game would be a little better if everyone made up their own nicknames like that man did.

Twitter: @MikePDiddy/Instagram: mikepdiddy

Twitter: @petersim/Instagram: petersim

Although the KD IV gets all of the shine as the best Kevin Durant signature, the Nike KD VI is my favorite. It is the sleekest silhouette, and I like my sneakers as slick as possible. I regularly play in my All-Star “Illusion” pair, but the best colorway that I saw all of last year was the Nike KD VI “Career High” PE. This shimmering style code was made specially for the MVP after he hung a new career-high 54 on the Warriors this past season. I was honestly disappointed with the generally released colorways of the VI, but this exclusive silver and gold makeup with navy and teal accents stands alone.

Twitter: @JHowieee/Instagram: airlessjordan

How could I not go with the Nike KD 4 “Nerf?” Aside from being one of the most sought-after KD’s on the market for obvious reasons, the “Nerf” in my opinion is one of two shoes (the other being the Nike KD 4 “Weatherman”) that changed the way we look at Durant’s signature line. Not to mention KD’s alma-mater lacing up these gems in their matchup against Temple University. Sick.

Twitter: @sidashford/Instagram: sidashford

**Note** Send a Kick Chronicle about your favorite Nike KD of all time to info@snkrsday.com for a chance to be featured on the site next week.
