{"id":400158,"date":"2014-08-20T18:10:39","date_gmt":"2014-08-20T23:10:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.snkrsday.com\/?p=400158"},"modified":"2022-09-17T12:26:19","modified_gmt":"2022-09-17T17:26:19","slug":"update-kevin-durants-sneaker-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.snkrsday.com\/update-kevin-durants-sneaker-contract\/","title":{"rendered":"Update: Kevin Durant&#8217;s Sneaker Contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"color: #4b4b4b;\">Earlier this month\u00a0we learned that<strong style=\"color: #dd3333;\">\u00a0<a style=\"color: #dd3333;\" href=\"\/tag\/kevin-durant-shoes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kevin Durant<\/a><\/strong>\u2018s Nike contract has expired, then he cancelled a scheduled trip to the brand\u2019s headquarters where he would have most likely been discussing a new deal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #4b4b4b;\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/darrenrovell\/\">Darren Rovell<\/a> at\u00a0ESPN, <em>&#8220;Kevin Durant&#8217;s representation, Roc Nation Sports, informed Nike on Wednesday that he has a deal on the table with Under Armour worth between $265 million and $285 million over 10 years, sources told ESPN.com. The deal includes Under Armour stock and other incentives, such a community center built in his mother&#8217;s name, whose exact worth will not be known for some time.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #4b4b4b;\">This reported contract would be just under the\u00a0$300 million offer that was previously stated\u00a0by the Maryland-based\u00a0<a style=\"color: #dd3333;\" href=\"http:\/\/m.bizjournals.com\/baltimore\/news\/2014\/08\/05\/nba-star-kevin-durant-nike-as-under-armour.html?r=full\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Baltimore Business Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #4b4b4b;\">Now the ball is in Nike&#8217;s court &#8212; <em>&#8220;(Nike) saw its signature business related to the\u00a0Oklahoma City Thunder\u00a0forward grow to roughly $175 million at retail this past season, (and) will now have the right to match, which is a condition of Durant&#8217;s current contract with the brand. Durant can still choose Nike if they don&#8217;t match, but can&#8217;t legally choose Under Armour if they do.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #4b4b4b;\">Could Kevin Durant really be headed to UA?
