In the artist realm, Michael Jordan and the Jordan Brand have many friends. Over the years, a plethora of performers have rocked Jordans on stage, appeared in ad campaigns and showcased their early shipments on all possible platforms. Despite all these close ties, only a select few entertainers have gotten laced by JB in the most exclusive of manners. Unreleased exclusives and collaborations are special privileges that are usually reserved for NBA athletes and top-tier boutiques. In the past ten years, especially as of late, those rights have been extended to entertainers that have influence and unique bonds with the brand. Today, we rank the best JB PEs and collabos that were made specifically for or with musicians.

Shoe: Air Jordan 2 “The Way I Am” Artist: Eminem Year: 2008 Four years after the Encore-inspired 4s, JB and Em linked up again for an Air Jordan 2. “The Way I Am” retros pulled from the pages of his book and song of the same title, serving as cross-promotion for his autobiography release. 313 pairs were made as a nod to Detroit’s area code and released as an online exclusive.

Shoe: Bun B x Jordan CP3.VI “All-Star” Artist: Bun B Year: 2013 In 2013, Houston played host to the NBA All-Star Game. JB linked up with Bun B for a trill take on the Jordan CP3.VI. Inspired by the Astros color scheme and local slang, this unreleased exclusive made its way into the hands of Macklemore, Heat Seekers Krew member Sam Colt and few others.

Shoe: Jordan Melo M10 “Northwest King Salmon” PE Artist: Macklemore Year: 2014 Macklemore’s star status and organic interest in the sneaker culture helped him score his own Jordan Melo M10 PE. Dubbed the “Northwest King Salmon” colorway, this Pacific Northwest catch has been spotted fittingly on the feet of the Seattle product.

Shoe: Air Jordan 3 “Drake vs. Lil Wayne” PE Artist: Drake Year: 2014 Following in the footsteps of the “Legends of the Summer” PEs for JT, the Air Jordan 3 “Drake vs. Lil Wayne” PE coincides with a major tour. It’s unknown at this moment if JB will lace Drake with additional models and colorways like they did for Justin, but fans seemed thrilled with this pair thus far.

Shoe: Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 9 and Air Jordan 11 “Solid Gold” PEs Artist: Usher Year: 2013-2014 Continuing to play with tonal takes and pop sensations, “Solid Gold” variations of the Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 9 and Air Jordan 11 landed on the feet of Usher. Mr. Raymond’s star status and high visibility point to these being gifts from Jordan Brand, though neither parties have confirmed this to our knowledge. A recent rocking of all-gold Air Jordan 3s by JB-endorsed Drake add credibility to these Midas makeups.

Shoe: Air Jordan 10 & 12 “OVO” PEs Artist: Drake Year: 2013 In December of 2013, Drake became an official endorser for Jordan Brand. The move came shortly after Kanye’s signing with adidas, though Drizzy and JB had been fam for years. The first perks of the partnership proved to be “OVO” themed Air Jordan exclusives, graced with gold and sporting stingray detailing, as seen by these Air Jordan 10s. Two pairs of Air Jordan 12 “OVO” PEs were made for Drake as well. Drizzy wore these on the road while touring the Nothing Was the Same album and on the sideline while supporting his Toronto Raptors. During the team’s Drake Night festivities, Champagne Papi passed out pairs to lucky fans and friends, with select sizes ending up on the likes of Amir Johnson and A$AP Twelvy.

Shoe: Air Jordan 1, Air Jordan 2 and Air Jordan 3 “Legends of the Summer” PEs Artist: Justin Timberlake Year: 2013 On the road with Jay Z, Justin Timberlake became the recipient of many red-renditions of the first three Air Jordan models. The “Legends of the Summer” series played off the tour’s tile, dressing the Air Jordan 1 in an array of flashy finishes. The Air Jordan 2 and Air Jordan 3 also saw special styling, with JT, lucky fans, and well-connected celebs scoring limited pairs of these unreleased exclusives.

Shoe: Eminem x Air Jordan 4 Artist: Eminem Year: 2004 Never as good as the first time? With no nods to Sade, the Eminem x Air Jordan 4 kicked off the off-court courtship we see so much of today.
