Monta Ellis may not wow you by wearing a highly-celebrated shoe, but his consistency when it comes to the kicks he wears on court is largely unrivaled. Ever since he discontinued his partnership with AND1 after the 2010-2011 NBA season, Ellis has routinely taken to the court in a mixture of beloved retros, newer silhouettes and iDs all from Jordan Brand in his stints with the Warriors, Buck and now Mavericks.

“The thing I like about Monta is he’s always consistent,” says Nick Young, the 2012 Kicks On Court Champion. “You can depend on him to wear some nice stuff every single game.”

Although slightly down in regard to the quantity of shoes he brought out this season, especially compared to last year, Monta wore 25+ pairs of Jordans in his first years as a Dallas Mavericks. Ellis laced up seemingly every Jordan you can think of that incorporates the colors blue, white and grey, including the “Flint” Air Jordan 13, the “Wolf Grey” Air Jordan 5, the “Obsidian” Air Jordan 12 and the “Cool Grey” Air Jordan 11. He even brought out a few original Jordans, such as the “College Blue” Air Jordan XVII and the White/Royal Air Jordan XVIII, in addition to some forgotten gems, namely the “Neutral Grey” Air Jordan 13, the “UNC” Air Jordan XX3 and the “Magic” 7s via the Air Jordan 60+ Pack.

“You guys should really go check out his collection at his house,” says former NBA player Stephen Jackson. “What he brings to the court doesn’t tell half of what he has locked away. He’s been in it for a long while now.”

For now, we can only see as far as the court. Ellis always finishes in the top 5 in the Kicks On Court Champion race. Does his consistency push him over the top this season? Check out his full Kicks On Court resume below.

Top NIKEiD/PE Wears: There’s not much to customize when it comes to Jordans on NIKEiD, but Monta made use of the customizable options for his favorite on-court shoe, the Jordan Spizike. His four colorways – white and royal, obsidian and royal, grey and navy, royal and white – weren’t anything spectacular but they coincided perfectly with the Mavericks’ color scheme.

Top Closet Appeal Wears: Every year, we can expect some forgotten gems to be worn on court from the Mississippi-bred guard. We see a limitless amount of retro Jordans each season, but a few players, like Ellis, bring out favorites from the early 2000s. He wore two original Jordans – the “College Blue” Air Jordan XVII and the Air Jordan XVIII White/Black-Sport Royal – and he took to the court two rarely seen Jordan retros from 2005 in the form of the “Neutral Grey” Air Jordan 13 and the “Ice Blue” Air Jordan 10.

Top Element of Surprise Wears: The Air Jordan XX3 appears roughly once a year on court. If you recall, Derrick Williams, last year’s Kicks On Court Champion, turned heads in the “Motorsport” Air Jordan XX3. This year, Ellis gave us our XX3 fix by sporting the UNC version of the Air Jordan XX3. He also brought the seldom-seen Air Jordan 7 “Magic” via the 60+ Pack and wore the “Wolf Grey” Air Jordan 5, a shoe we’ve only seen on an NBA court only one other time thanks to Kawhi Leonard.

Top Sneaker Debut Wears: Ellis didn’t debut as much as the other 2014 Kicks On Court Champion nominees in this race. However, he still had a couple of notables in this category. Ellis was the first and only player to wear the “Barons” Air Jordan 9. In addition, he was the first player to wear the retro version of the “Powder Blue” Air Jordan 10 on court.

There’s not much variety here, brand-wise, but Monta still mixed it up within the Jordan Brand footwear as a whole. He blended original Jordan silhouettes with some of the latest models from the storied brand. Plus, he mixed in a few NIKEiDs with retros we rarely seen.

State your case as to why Dallas Mavericks guard Monta Ellis should win the 2014 Kicks On Court Champion award in the comment section below.

Monta Ellis may not wow you by wearing a highly-celebrated shoe, but his consistency when it comes to the kicks he wears on court is largely unrivaled.
