The rap game is full of new faces and cliques on the come-up, but few make hits and keep kicks like Iamsu!<\/strong> and The HBK Gang. Based in the Bay, Su, Sage the Gemini and the rest of the camp have been infiltrating the airwaves for a minute now, getting feature credit on the likes of “Up!” by Loverance and “Function” by E-40. With Sage season now in total effect, Su’s star is continuing to rise with release of his debut album, Sincerely Yours<\/em>. We caught up with the rapper\/producer to hear what he’s rocking these days for this installment of My 5<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Iamsu:<\/strong> “I got a throwback pair and as soon as I started walking in them they cracked instantly, but I still rock the same pair. I don’t like to match with the “Aqua” 8s, I like to keep it really rare and just let the shoes speak.”<\/p>\n

Iamsu:<\/strong> “I’m just a huge Bape head, anything Bape I’m on it. I’ve got like five pairs of Bapes and hella Bape clothes. I became a fan of Bape really just off of The Clipse and Pharrell and that whole movement. I remember watching Diary of Pharrell<\/em>\u00a0and seeing him going to Japan to open up a BBC store and all the Bape he had on.”<\/p>\n

Iamsu:<\/strong> “Those are my favorite shoes. I’m wearing them on my album cover, actually. I always wanted them, I just never knew how to get them when I was younger. Now that I’m older and in the game a little bit more I can pick them up.”<\/p>\n

Iamsu:<\/strong> “They’re really understated. They’ve got the art on the inside and the toe cap is off-white. A lot of people wear Vans more than Chucks in the Bay, but Chucks are definitely a super West Coast shoe.”<\/p>\n
