Sneaker Story:

“My love for sneakers started when my older brother purchased my first pair of Air Jordan 2s in the 6th grade. It grew when I first saw Michigan and the “Fab Five” wearing the Nike Air Huarache, Force Max, Air Maestro and Air Unlimited with the black socks. I knew then that I had it bad. The unfortunate thing was that my family didn’t have disposable income for me to get all the sneakers I wanted, and if I wasn’t skipping lunch to save money for kicks, or my older brother helping me out to have fresh sneakers, I wouldn’t have had kicks at all. Once I went away to college, my goal was to kill two birds with one stone and get a job to have some money and get sneakers at the same time, so I applied at every sneaker store possible until I got a part-time job at Champs and tried to make up for lost time. I currently have between 140-150 pairs of kicks that range from different styles of Nikes, to Jordans, unreleased samples, Bapes, Ice creams, Reeboks, New Balances, Adidas, Supras, Andriod Homee’s and S.Carters. My love for kicks in general can never be questioned.”

Most Rare Pair: Nike LeBron 9 “Watch the Throne” Sample

“The first time I saw this shoe, my boy SoleyGhost had them and I said to myself that I will find a pair, no matter what. One day, my friend Zach let me know a pair was available in my size, and the rest is history.”

Most Frequent Wear: Nike “What the” Collection

“I try to wear all of my kicks, but I honestly wear my “What the” models the most because the designs are crazy and I love how people break their necks looking at them every time I throw them on. Plus, I don’t care about matching my clothes with my kicks anyway. Ha!”

Personal Favorite: Air Jordan 4 “Doernbecher”

“This shoe means a lot to me, because of what it stands for. I was fortunate enough to survive a major scare with stomach cancer, and to hear the story of Isaiah Scott and the reason behind him putting the Superman on the shoe made it a must. The best thing about my version is that my good friends Cali and Corey found me a pair with the box signed by Isaiah, and the paper in the Box signed by other kids that designed the rest of the DB shoes.”

Oldest Pair: Nike Air Huarache (1992)

“This is the shoe that I wanted ever since I saw the design, and when I saw the “Fab Five” wear the Basketball version, I knew I had to get them. I grabbed the Fab Five versions when they re-released, but when I had enough money I made sure to not only find runners but the original from ’92. Thank God for eBay.”

Collection Starter: Nike Air Max 95 (1995)

“My collection officially started when I started my first part time job working at Champs. While in college, the “Neon” 95s came out and I fell in love, but even with my discount I didn’t have the money at the time and they sold out. Then we got our next shipment of an orange pair and a mustard pair. You can guess what color I went with, but that didn’t stop me from grabbing the lime “Neons” when they re-released years later.”
