After compiling a stash of shoes over two decades, <em>NikeNate<\/em> was forced to reset his collection and start from scratch just two years ago. Now back in the game with an array of classics and new models alike, this footwear fiend keeps his new setup in a designated sneaker room on display.<\/p>\n<p>Read through the feature to hear Nate&#8217;s sneaker story, get his advice to the next generation, and see some of his personal favorites including his <strong>Most Rare <\/strong><strong>Pair<\/strong> and <strong>Most Frequent Wear<\/strong>. Raised by a single mom, I had to work hard to buy my first pair. Featured in the NBA, the Jordan 4s inspired my current sneakerhead life. Collections were always a hobby of mine, starting with baseball cards, moving on to Sports Illustrated, and finally settling with sneakers. Having three children by 26 meant that circumstances changed how often I could add to my sneaker collection, but I\u2019m heading toward a fresh start and hope to add more sneakers than ever before. I had to <strong>start from scratch two years ago<\/strong>, and won\u2019t let history repeat itself. <strong>I believe in enjoying sneakers, not just collecting them<\/strong>. I buy and wear them the way they\u2019re supposed to be worn. I don\u2019t mind a crease or two, it\u2019s a natural thing that sneakers do. Opening a brand new box, smelling fresh kicks and wearing them for the first time is always an amazing experience. Thanks to social networking, things are much different than 25 years ago, and I\u2019m able to share my joys worldwide.\u00a0 I give credit to old sneakerheads everywhere and appreciate the challenge that new sneakerheads face.<\/p>\n<p>I have a simple message to each group: <em><strong>Don\u2019t look down on or discourage future sneakerheads, because after all, you had to start somewhere too.<\/strong><\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Collection Starter: <\/strong>Air Jordan 4<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cPeople ask me what sneaker sent me down this kicks obsession. Well, it\u2019s the one and only <a href=\"\/air-jordans\/air-jordan-4\/\" target=\"_blank\">Air Jordan 4<\/a>. While in high school, I used two weeks worth of paychecks to buy my first pair of Air Jordans. Only three other students had them and when I noticed their kicks in the hallway, I knew I had to have them. Even now, every time I see a clip of Jordan shooting over Craig Ehlo, it takes me back to that first Foot Locker purchase. I wore them every day, in every condition until they fell apart. I wish I still had that same pair, no matter how beat they might be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Most Rare Pair: <\/strong>Air Jordan 5 &#8220;Quai 54&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;I traded Foams for this rare pair in February. Since their release was restricted in the U.S., there are only a chosen few wearing this gem. The Quai 54\u2019s compliments the <a href=\"\/air-jordans\/air-jordan-5\/\" target=\"_blank\">Air Jordan 5<\/a>, so I\u2019m a sucker for Jordan 3s, 4s, and 5s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Personal Favorite: <\/strong>Nike Air Max 90 \u201cDuck Hunter Camo\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThe <strong>&#8220;Duck Camo&#8221;<\/strong> in the classic <a href=\"\/tag\/nike-air-max-90\/\" target=\"_blank\">Air Max 90<\/a> style was such a great twist to really make your shoes stand out. I\u2019m a huge fan of the entire Air Max line, and the fact that the Duck Camos are extremely limited made it that much more special to me. I\u2019m trying to move my collection more toward quality over quantity, so anytime a sneaker stands out the way the Duck Camos do it makes it much more enjoyable to wear. Its really a love\/hate relationship; people love \u2018em or hate \u2018em when they see me wear them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Oldest Pair: <\/strong>Air Jordan 2 White\/Black-Red<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cWhen the original version released I wasn\u2019t into sneakers, but after their re-release in 2004 I made sure to grab them. Most people don\u2019t like the 2s, but I personally love their clean look. The huge old school wings on the tongue is such a great feature because it&#8217;s not the normal Jumpman logo that you find on all the current Jordans. The yellowing of the midsole is a great reminder of its age, and yet they are still recent enough that I have no worries of them crumbling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Most Frequent Wear: <\/strong>Air Jordan 7 &#8220;Bordeaux&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThe <strong>&#8220;Bordeaux&#8221;<\/strong> is a great everyday wear for me. The neutral color matches anything, and the toe box never seems to crease no matter the wear. The <a href=\"\/air-jordans\/air-jordan-7\/\" target=\"_blank\">Air Jordan 7s<\/a> have a great cut and seem to fit my foot just right, so even after an eight hour day, there is no discomfort. They are rare so people notice!
