Tonight we kick off a new column on the site that will run daily on NiceKicks.com. The Snkrs Day Daily 8 will be a countdown with a common theme – 8. Look for the best 8, worst 8, 8 we love, 8 we hate.

To kick things off, let’s take a look at the best 8 Royal Air Jordans of all time. Jordan Brand gave us all a look at the upcoming line of Sport Blue retros, but there have been quite a few shoes to sport the royalish hue over the course of time. Flip through and let us know if you agree or disagree.

Air Jordan 12 “French Blue”
#8 The “French Blue” 12s came out right after Jordan called it quits for good, but obviously drew inspiration from his time lacing up for the Washington Wizards. There is a rare run of samples that feature a black outsole. Perhaps Jordan Brand could hook us up with those in the future?

Air Jordan 10 “Old Royal”
#7 This was the unofficial shoe of the Kentucky Wildcats come tourney time when the team was lead by Anthony Davis. One of the better retro 10s.

Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue”
#6 Now I know that this is pretty low on the list for a classic OG colorway, but honestly, the people have spoken. Each time this shoe has retroed, it has slowly crawled out the doors. In 2006 even the shoe hit sale racks!

Air Jordan 7 “French Blue”
#5 MJ was back in the game and these retros were on point. The “French Blue” Jordan 7s released just a week and change before Christmas in 2002 on the same day as the “Charcoals” (aka “Raptors”). Genuine full grain leather that we would never see again.

Air Jordan 5 “Stealth”
#4 Ok, ok, so I might be a little bit biased about this shoe since the FIRST EVER blog post on NiceKicks.com was about this shoe, but it was overlooked by many back in 2006, but one of the cleanest Air Jordan 5s to date. Leather was great on the shoes and they killed it with light rinse denim (yeah, that used to be hot).

Air Jordan 6 “Sport Blue”
#3 Exactly HOW long did we all have to wait for this shoe to return? I can’t tell you how many people I have heard said they are staying in the game just because these haven’t come back. Now how long do we need to wait for the Maroon 6s? Dan Levy is anxious.

Air Jordan 3 “True Blue”
#2 MJ was supposed to rock these in the 1988 All-Star Game as a perfect get-up match for his uniform, but there is one or two photos floating around of the G.O.A.T. rocking them in team pictures with the NBA’s finest. Fun fact, they were the first OG colorway retro to receive the Jumpman Air treatment on the heel in 2001.

Air Jordan 1 Black/Royal
#1 No written explanation. See below:
