It wasn&#8217;t until her encounter with a friend who was interested, and filming a music video in a sneaker shop, that she became intrigued. Just a short time later, her shoe stock grew to over 50 pairs that ranged in everything from <strong>Air Jordans<\/strong> and <strong>Nikes<\/strong> to <strong>Ewings<\/strong> and <strong>ASICS<\/strong>. I lived in a small town in NM. My Mom was born with Cerebral Palsy and doesn\u2019t work, and my Dad works construction and made about 40K\/year (or less) when I was growing up. My concerns weren\u2019t with fashion or kicks, in fact I rarely wore shoes in general (this continued into my early 20s). At 18, I moved to California, where I worked and went to school. I first crossed paths with <strong>Tim Shelton<\/strong> in January 2012. Tim was the San Diego State basketball team captain, and he also happened to be a musician. Tim asked me to create a music video for <em>\u201cAztec Motto\u201d<\/em>. He requested a heavy emphasis on kicks, the only problem was that I knew absolutely nothing about kicks. Tim and others guided me on what to film and what was considered \u201cheat\u201d. Despite my new found knowledge of shoes, I wasn\u2019t sold yet. In late 2012, Tim asked me to create a music video for &#8220;<em>Montezuma 55th&#8221;<\/em>. We filmed a good portion of the video inside of a local shoe store. <strong>Stu Keller<\/strong> of <em>Kolorblind Shoes<\/em> is one of the most knowledgeable sneaker lovers I know. As we filmed, he told me about each shoe and gave me a little history about the sneaker game. I distinctly remember the moment my interest peaked: I asked about the &#8220;Doernbecher&#8221; Air Jordan IV. As Stu explained the Doernbecher line, I felt sad and excited all at the same time. Growing up I was uninsured (but healthy), and my Mom\u2019s story isn\u2019t far off from one that merits its own sneaker. For the first time, I felt like I could truly appreciate a sneaker for the art that it is without judging the materialism. Days later I purchased my first pair of kicks, and days after that I purchased my second pair. Since then, my collection has grown to over 50 pairs. My collection is all over the place, consisting of <strong>Jordans, KDs, LeBrons, Kobes, Ewings, Sky Highs, SBs,<\/strong> various <strong>Nikes, ASICS<\/strong> and more. After four months of collecting sneakers, I started to wonder if I had become too materialistic and selfish. I decided to purchase and give away a pair of sneakers as often as I could. It makes me happy to share the love of sneakers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Personal Favorite: <\/strong>Air Jordan 1 White\/Black-Red<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cI had to think long and hard about this one. Initially, I thought it might be impossible to answer this question with just one shoe. Finally, I thought about which shoe I pack every time I travel. The answer is- my <strong>&#8220;Black Toe&#8221; 1s<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Most Rare Pair: <\/strong>Nike LeBron 9 Elite &#8220;South Beach&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;This was my first pricey sneaker purchase, and I <em>un-DSed them with an outdoor workout the same day<\/em>! There is something to be said about looking good when you&#8217;re working out. It&#8217;s like an added boost of motivation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Collection Starter: <\/strong>Air Jordan 9 &#8220;Johnny Kilroy&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cDays after filming in a shoe store, I was wandering around the mall and I randomly decided to look for some kicks. I popped into Robert Wayne and fell in love with the <strong>&#8220;Kilroys&#8221;<\/strong>. Four is my favorite number, and I liked the idea of an alter ego. They didn\u2019t have my size, so I \u201csettled\u201d for the SC1s. The very next day, my co-worker wore the Kilroys! I knew I had to make them mine. They were so perfect (especially on-foot), and a few days later I ordered them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Most Frequent Wear: <\/strong>Air Jordan 1 Black\/Royal<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cI tend to wear darker colors, so on any given day this shoe is likely to match. Plus you just can\u2019t go wrong with the <a href=\"\/air-jordans\/air-jordan-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Air Jordan 1<\/a>. A perfect shoe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Oldest Pair: <\/strong>Nike ACG Lava Dunk High<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cI got these gorgeous shoes at the Nike outlet for <em>less than $50<\/em>.
