Despite 2014 still working to find its footing in terms of release frequency, there were a number of notable sneaker collabs released in the winter month of January. Easily one of the most frequently re-imagined sneaker silhouettes, the Nike SB Dunk seemingly leaves few paths and inspirations to be explored these days. Further pushing the envelop, Premier was able to give the kick new life with their season-appropriate “Petoskey” mockup. Given their track record, mita and SBTG’s rendition of the New Balance 580 could have been a blind pick and win, but after feasting our eyes on the collab, it was a surefire stunner. Pig suede never looked so good on a Newbie. The month of January was peppered with size? x Nike teasers, with the unveiling of the full “Army & Navy” Collection leaving many sneaker lovers salivating. Rather than reworking just one pair, size? took to three retro Nike classics in the Air Huarache, Air Max Light and Air Max 93, joining the trio together for an armed and dangerous pack. As the saying goes, less is more, and in the case of the complex PUMA Disc Blaze, Ronnie Fieg adhered to that mantra to put together a noteworthy duo.
